The Engineering Department at the American University of Iraq, Sulaimani (AUIS) hosted an interactive workshop to prepare engineering students for successful careers. Today, the foundation of a thriving engineering career revolves around three key pillars: (1) applicable skills, (2) understanding safety, and (3)
considering sustainability and the environment. The goal was to collaborate with local industries and businesses to provide valuable insights to students on how they can “upskill” in these critical domains. The workshop offered students a chance to learn more about employers’ expectations and how to meet them.

On March 27, the ACI-AUIS student chapter and the engineering club were delighted to host a seminar by senior civil engineer Ghazwan Dabdab under the title "Enhancing Structural Integrity: Exploring the Role of Construction Chemicals in Waterproofing and Concrete Repair."
Engineer Ghazwan went into the critical role of construction chemicals in making more substantial, durable, and environmentally friendly buildings. He focused on two key aspects which are waterproofing and concrete repair.
Students were able to join an insightful discussion exploring how construction chemicals contribute to building resilience, sustainability, and longevity.

The Engineering Club arranged a trip to Faruk Mala Mustafa Underpass Project on October 21, 2023.
The project manager gave the students a welcoming speech, answered all of their questions about the project, and gave them a tour to the entire project.
The students were able to read the project's maps, identify the possible problems, and learn how to avoid or handle them. They were also able to learn the phases of the underpass's construction process.
