Shortly after the Nawroz holiday period Kurdistan Centre for Gender Studies continued its activities engaging in public debates promoting its mission and goals. On March the 29th KCGS director Mr. Silah Fatah and training unit manager Mrs. Nishtiman Othman presented a seminar for faculty of law students, staff and lecturers. KCGS director talked about the KCGS project and partners behind it. The aim was to inform the participants about the importance of the project and why we all should strive to make it succeed. Nishtiman on the other hand, talked about the gender concept and understanding with emphasis on why everyone needs to know about gender based inequality. In summary, the seminar was engaging and aroused lots of questions and discussions as a result we invited all participants to come to the center for further information.

On March, the 2nd 2016 ahead of the Mother Day and International Women’s Day KCGS director presented a seminar for Faculty of Law students and academics of Soran University. The seminar was about women and political participation. The focal point was, how the greater role of women in policy-making can be achieved. The obvious answer is, through changing political parties’ laws and society mental attitude. Many students asked for a similar seminar to be presented in future for them to get informed about gender-based inequality.

On 4th of April 2016, KCGS director delivered a seminar for third year students at Faculty of Art - Soran University. The subject of discussion was gender and society. Students were already familiar with gender concept given that gender studies module is part of their programme in the third year. It was an engaging seminar as there were lots of questions as how KCGS and they can best try to spread the message of gender equality. Students were asked to take gender inequality seriously and help KCGS by becoming its representatives in their communities. A working relationship is already established as students pay a frequent visit to KCGS for questions about gender-related issues

As a part of training program that took place in February, the KCGS trainer Dr. Rebwar conducted a number of gender-understanding sessions on 21- 22 - 28 - 29 in Sulaimani province again for Interior and Education ministries senior staff. As part of KCGS plans to train the civil servants and other staff from private sector; a training program under the name Gender Understanding was conducted for the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Interior in Erbil province. On 27th of January the Director of KCGS and Florin, the head of High Council for Women Affairs attended a round-table meeting at MERI to discus the role of Think-Tanks and policy institute in Iraqi Kurdistan. This event was important for KCGS to build its profile as Think-Tank and institute for policy advice to KRG.
