What is the meaning of Shukr (Gratitude)?

Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله said:

“Shukr is to display the effects of the blessings of Allaah upon the tongue by way of praise and acknowledgement; in the heart by way of witnessing and love; and upon the limbs by way of submission and obedience.”

The Virtues Of Khadijah, The Mother Of The Believers رضى الله تعالى عنها

A'isha reported: Never did I feel jealous of the wives of Allah's Apostle (ﷺ) but in case of Khadija, although I did no, (have the privilege to) see her. She further added that whenever Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) slaughtered a sheep, he said: Send it to the companions of Khadija I annoyed him one day and said: (It is) Khadija only who always prevails upon your mind. Thereupon Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said: Her love had been nurtured in my heart by Allah Himself.

Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله:

"Friday prayer is one of the most important obligations in Islam, and one of the greatest gatherings of the Muslims. Gathering on Friday is more important and more obligatory than any other gathering apart from ‘Arafah. Whoever neglects it, Allāh will place a seal on his heart."

What can my enemies do to me?

Imam Ibn Taymiyyah (rahimahullaah) said:

"What can my enemies do to me? My Paradise is in my heart; it goes with me wherever I am. If they kill me, it is martyrdom. If they exile me from my land, it is a vacation in the Path of Allah. If they imprison me, it is to allow me a private devotion with Allah."

Have intention for the Night Prayer (Qiyaamul Layl) every night

Abu Darda’ رضي الله عنه narrated that the Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وسلم said: “Whoever went to bed intending to (get up and) pray in the night and was overcome by sleep, it will be written for him what he intended. And his sleep becomes charity for him from his Rabb ‘aza wa jal.”

Imam Ibn Taymiyyāh said:

"Dawah requires 3 things;
- Knowledge prior to it,
- gentleness through out it and
- patience after it."

Revive a Sunnah - Using Kohl regularly

Anas narrated that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) used to apply kohl to his right eye three times, and to his left eye twice.

Sunan al-Nasaa’i (5113) and Sunan Abi Dawood (3837). Classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in al-Silsilah al-Saheehah no. 633.

1. Ibn al-Qayyim (may Allaah have mercy on him) said: Kohl protects the health of the eyes and gives strength and clarity of vision, and cleanses they eye of bad substances. In addition to that some types of kohl also serve as an adornment and if it is applied before going to bed this is even better. And ithmid is more efficacious than other types of kohl. [Zaad al-Ma’aad, 4/281]

2. It says in al-Mughni: It is mustahabb to use kohl an odd number of times. (al-Mughni, 1/106).
