“Medieval” and “Gothic” in the context of Kurdish history and literature refer to two distinct areas: the historical medieval period (roughly 5th–15th century) where Kurds held significant power, and the application of “Gothic” elements in modern Kurdish literature as a tool to analyze socio-political, psychological, and dark themes.

As minds build bridges, thought by thought, sound by sound.
زستان هاتووە بۆ هۆڵە گەرمەکانی زانکۆ،
لە ژێر ڕووناکی نەرمدا زانیاری دەهێنرێت.
باڵەخانە ساردەکان لە دەرەوە چاوەڕێن،
بەڵام لێرە بیرۆکەکان دەست بە گەشە دەکەن.
پالتۆکان قورس بوون بە بەفری دابەزراو،
قەڵەمەکان خێرا دەجوڵێن کاتێک جیهان هێواش دەبێت.
نێوان لاپەڕەکاندا وەرزەکان لەبیر دەچن،
کاتێک مێشک پلە پلە پردی بیر دروست دەکات.
