The difference between Human resources in the humanitarian (non-profit) sector and the company/business (profit) sector
Human resources in companies need to keep an eye on the company's profits - Human resources in nonprofit is mission-driven and keeps the organization strong

Job description:

profit: the job description for any employee of a for-profit is to make money for the company

Non-profit: Nonprofits need to have job descriptions, training manuals, and policy and procedure manuals that describe more than the technicalities of the job

Funds

profit: profit company may roll out a new product or service line, they rarely work for a definite end date. If it makes a profit, then the project continues

Non-profit: Nonprofits often have grant funding for specific programs. This funding is for a defined period with no guarantee of renewal

Volunteers (non-profit): Volunteers can be the backbone of a nonprofit – might or might not get hired

Interns (profit): receive incentives and have a potential job at the end of their service

Managerial and Skilled staff (profit): Managerial and skilled staff get paid more and have more benefits

Managerial and Skilled staff (non-profit): Managerial and skilled staff get paid less with less benefits
