Concrete’s Sole Contribution to Climate Change

An insightful online session organized by Kurdistan Green Building Cell (KGBC) in collaboration with Hook Group, focusing on the environmental impact of concrete and practical approaches toward low-carbon construction.

The session covered key topics including Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs), embodied carbon, low-carbon concrete, sustainable materials, and the circular economy, with a special focus on the Kurdistan context.

We were pleased to participate through ACI Eco Club and ACI UOS Student Chapter, giving our members and participants the opportunity to learn from industry knowledge and engage with important discussions on sustainable construction.

A practical Seminar on Cracks in Houses

Today, a practical and informative seminar was held at the College of Engineering, University of Sulaimani, focusing on Cracks in Houses.

The seminar was presented by Professor Dr. Muhammad Rauf, who discussed different types of cracks, their possible causes, and practical construction problems through real-life examples and practical case studies.
The seminar was organized by the ACI Kurdistan Chapter and held at the College of Engineering, University of Sulaimani, with the ACI UOS Student Chapter supporting the coordination of the event.

سیمینارێکی پڕاکتیکی و بەسوود دەربارەی درز لە خانوودا

ئەمڕۆ لە کۆلێژی ئەندازیاری، زانکۆی سلێمانی سیمینارێکی پڕاکتیکی و بەسوود بەڕێوەچوو، دەربارەی درز لە خانوودا (Cracks in Houses).

سیمینارەکە لەلایەن پڕۆفیسۆر د. محەمەد ڕەئوف پێشکەش کرا، کە تێیدا بە شێوەیەکی پراکتیکی جۆرەکانی درز، هۆکارەکانی دروستبوونیان و کێشە جیاوازەکانی بیناسازی بە نموونە و کەیسە ڕاستەقینەکان ڕوونکرانەوە.

A scientific trip was organized by Dr. Saman Ali Abdullah, Ph.D., Lecturer at the University of Sulaimani, for 4th-stage Civil Engineering students, with the participation of some ACI UOS Student Chapter members.

The trip provided students with an opportunity to connect theoretical knowledge with real-world structural and concrete practices, including:

The course was presented by Mr. Soran, a lecturer at the College of Engineering, and supervised by Dr. Sirwan Khurshid, with the event organized by the UOS ACI Student Chapter. A valuable opportunity to strengthen practical knowledge, develop laboratory skills, and gain hands-on experience in civil engineering testing.
