On March 8, 2026, a ceremony was held in Sulaymaniyah to mark International Women’s Day.
On this occasion, Khanzad Organization, a member of the March 8 Network, organized a ceremony at Bardarki Sara. During the event, two statements issued by the network were read, which included statistics on crimes involving the killing of women.
At the same ceremony , members of the network condemned the murder of Yanar Mohammed, who was recently murdered in Baghdad.
The Equality Award is granted annually to one of the defenders of women's rights. This year, the award was presented to Dr. Razaw Guli in recognition of her efforts.
The ceremony concluded with a silent theatrical performance, followed by a march from Mawlawi Street to the Public Park.

Today, March 2, 2026, Colonel Muhammad Abdul Rahim Abbas, Director of the Directorate for Combating Violence Against Women and Families in Sulaymaniyah, along with his accompanying delegation, paid a visit to the Khanzadi Cultural and Social Foundation.
They were warmly received by Dr. Karin Meloduch, Director of the German Cooperation Organization and a member of the Founding Committee of the Khanzadi Foundation, along with the foundation’s staff.
The visit discussed the activities of both sides and emphasized the importance of coordination and joint work. The Directorate for Combating Violence Against Women and Families in Sulaymaniyah then expressed its gratitude and appreciation to Dr. Karin Meloduch for her ongoing cooperation and coordination with the
Khanzadi Cultural and Social Foundation.

On February 24, 2026, the March 8 Network, Khanzad Organization is a member, held a meeting in Sulaymaniyah to discuss the killing of women in the Kurdistan Region, with the participation of activists in the field of equality and artists.

This seminar, which is part of a series of seminars for high schools in Sulaymaniyah, is part of the project’s activities., the seminar aimed to enrich and empower students with critical knowledge and skills. The seminar’s goal was to boost students' awareness and equip them with the skills needed for digital self-defense while providing insights into the psychological and social aspects of cybercrimes.
The seminar was presented by skilled trainer (Mr.Dyiar saadi ).

On February 18, 2026, as part of ongoing efforts to enhance the work of the team responsible for protecting victims of gender-based violence, an official meeting was held at the headquarters of the Women’s Media and Awareness Organization. The meeting was dedicated to the handover of responsibilities and the transition of the team’s leadership.
Khanzad Cultural and Social Organization had been managing the team for two years. This year, Khanzad decided to transfer responsibility to another organization, aiming to reorganize efforts in support of women’s issues.
During the meeting, which was attended by members and relevant stakeholders, discussions focused on developing a detailed plan to ensure a smooth transition of duties without creating any gaps in operations. Emphasis was also placed on implementing the annual strategic plans, strengthening coordination among members, and defining new roles and responsibilities to achieve humanitarian objectives.
Participants in the meeting expressed their full support for the Women’s Media and Awareness Organization in its new role, affirming that their primary goal is to continue advocating for the rights of women and girls and to reduce the impact of gender-based violence in society.

On 12 February 2026, the Vision Institute for Strategic Studies announced a new program titled “Open Eyes” concerning the conditions of prisoners in the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG). Stakeholders, journalists, and organizations participated in the program and presented their proposals and comments.

According to statistics revealed by Ihsan Abdul Rahman, Director General of Social Reform in the Kurdistan Region, 7,152 prisoners were released in the region last year. 628 prisoners were granted the right to education, and eight books were authored. Another 628 prisoners were also granted access to education.
Last year also witnessed 1,260 conditional releases and 57 special pardons. Additionally, 236 different activities related to drug issues were implemented, benefiting 406 prisoners.
The open session discussed shortcomings in the KRG’s reform process, ranging from a shortage of researchers and the rising number of prisoners to the non-implementation of the general amnesty law.
It was also noted that the problem of unpaid salaries had a negative impact on the reform process, creating challenges both in staffing and in providing humanitarian needs within the reform system.

This initiative aimed to enhance the knowledge and skills of teachers in social media privacy precautions and to increase awareness on the psychological and social consequences of cybercrime on victims. The goal is to empower instructors to better support and raise awareness among students in educational institutions. featured sessions led by two esteemed trainers, Mr. Soran Saeed and Dr. Luqman Saleh Karim.
