THE EVOLUTION OF LUXOR HUB 🇪🇬

We started out as a loose parent led project, hiring out of a rustic old russian garden annex next to Thebes Hotel (which has a roof pool and great views to the Valley of the Kings)

As we grew, we decided to take the project to some bare orchards on a family farm which we rented for 2022. It had no infrastructure and the men of the family carved out a rustic but beautiful in my opinion set up the children to enjoy hands on activities, socialising and roaming.

It was rented land and natural materials for fences, roofs and tables etc.

In 2023 we worked on upgrading the site, to have 2 key areas, for little people and older children to work on projects. We had hoped we would carry this to many more years in Luxor, but the universe had other plans.

Families and children have enjoyed the 3 years of space and activities, with workshops, gardening, permaculture, built pizza ovens, animal care, family lunches and evening movies, table top sales, wall art, roaming, playing and much more to make the rustic space open to all.

It is a working farm not a school and we have been very clear on this from our vision at the start. Children need unstructured free play to thrive.

We will be sad to say goodbye. Lovely memories with some awesome comminity spirited families from all over the world.

TWEENS & TEENS ON FAMILY AN 🇪🇬ADVENTURE

The trips we run for families are definitely a good choice for tweens & teens to make friends.

You know friends can enhance an experience like no other.

In September & October we have a good group of 10+ years children booked into our 10 day Nile Adventure Trips and we are seeking 2-3 more families.

Lantern Making for Ramadan in Luxor today with our beautiful team holding the fort while I do treatment in the UK and our young travelling learners from all over the world.

Time for light & reflection as they witness the holy month in Luxor.

Bread: An Egyptian stable food, cooked fresh by the women in the family in a mud brick oven.

The bread is used to sop up delicious sauces, but we enjoyed ours with soup & butter.

Over the years our students have built no fewer than 3 mud brick ovens by hand and foot power.

On our future 10 day adventure trips, families get involved in hands-on workshops, which give everyone a real authentic Egyptian experience.

FRIENDSHIPS AS WORLDSCHOOLERS

Travel is definitely easier on the family if you can find like minded souls to share the experiences.

Children especially don't need much entertainment, but as they make friends as they travel it can help them enjoy the magical long walks or the blazing hot sunshine.

Over the years at the Luxor Learning Hub the families we've hosted have gone on to meet all over the world... isn't that epic. You can make friends in Egypt and catch up in Japan on that bond you forged.

Some parents have become soul mates and my children have had months of continuous socialising, which has led to Roblox dates, Zoom calls and WhatsApp catch up groups.

Today marks the end of a Marine Camp over at the Red Sea which we couldn't join, but reports are people are happy and bonded. ❤️

If you're thinking of Worldschooling, community is key to long term travel success in my opinion.

Look for your tribe and community and see if you can build your intinary around a few community meets ups throughout the year.
