A few days ago, the NiLTAP team together with Mr Ali Karim, director of the archaeological site of Nimrud, had the honor of welcoming the Italian Ambassador in Baghdad, His Excellency Mr. Niccolò Fontana, and the Italian Consul in Erbil, Mr. Tommaso Sansone, on the occasion of their first visit at the site. It was a wonderful opportunity to show the invaluable cultural heritage preserved at the Assyrian city of Nimrud and to share the initial results of the first season of NiLTAP, in collaboration with our Iraqi colleagues, to whom we are very grateful for their constant cooperation.
Our sincere and heartfelt thanks go to the Ambassador, the Consul, and their staff for their interest in our work and for the ongoing support of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. We look forward to welcoming them back in a near future to share more news on our work in the Lower Town of Nimrud!
قبل أيام قليلة، كان لفريق مشروع نمرود للمدينة السفلى (NiLTAP)، برفقة السيد علي كريم، مدير موقع نمرود الأثري، شرفُ استقبال سعادة السفير الإيطالي في بغداد، السيد نيكولو فونتانا، والقنصل الإيطالي في أربيل، السيد توماسو سونسوني، وذلك في أول زيارة لهما إلى الموقع.
كانت مناسبة رائعة لعرض الإرث الثقافي الثمين المحفوظ في المدينة الآشورية نمرود، ولتقاسم النتائج الأولية للموسم الأول من أعمال المشروع، بالتعاون مع زملائنا العراقيين الذين نعرب لهم عن خالص امتناننا لتعاونهم المستمر.
نتوجّه بجزيل الشكر والعرفان إلى السفير والقنصل وفريق عملهما على اهتمامهم الكبير بعملنا، وعلى الدعم المتواصل من وزارة الخارجية والتعاون الدولي الإيطالية.

Today in Baghdad, we had the pleasure to have an official meeting at the State Board of Antiquities and Heritage (SBAH).
The Chairman of SBAH, Ali Obeid Shalgam, together with Suhail Al-Tamimi, Deputy Director General of the Department of Investigations and Excavations, welcomed the Italian Ambassador to Iraq, Niccolò Fontana, Daniele Morandi Bonacossi (University of Udine, Director of NiLTAP), Francesca Simi (University of Udine, Co-Director of NiLTAP) and Claudia Gatta (Cultural Office, Italian Embassy).
The discussion focused on the future of the archaeological project at Nimrud, the resumption of excavation, documentation and protection activities, and the strengthening of collaboration between SBAH and the University of Udine.

The Nimrud Lower Town Archaeological Project (NiLTAP) of the University of Udine has officially started.
The project is carried out in collaboration with the State Board of Antiquities and Heritage and the Directorate of Antiquities and Heritage in Mosul, with the aim of exploring, documenting, and protecting the ancient Assyrian city of Nimrud, Iraq.
We would like to express our sincere gratitude to Ali Obeid Shalgam, Chairman of the State Board of Antiquities and Heritage, and to Rwaed Muaffak Allyla, Director of Antiquities in Mosul, for their support.
We are also deeply grateful to the Italian Embassy in Baghdad, the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region, and the Fondazione Friuli for their invaluable assistance in making this project possible.

انطلق رسميًا مشروع نمرود للمدينة السفلى (NiLTAP) التابع لجامعة أوديني.
يُنفَّذ المشروع بالتعاون مع الهيئة العامة للآثار والتراث و مديرية الآثار والتراث في الموصل، بهدف استكشاف وتوثيق وحماية مدينة نمرود الآشورية القديمة في العراق.
