Kakatiya Institute of Technology and Science is affiliated to the Kakatiya University, Warangal. The Institute also received the approval of AICTE.

In the year 1986, the Kakatiya University accorded permanent affiliation to the Institue. Consequent to this, the University Grants Commission included this Institute in the list of colleges approved under section 2(f) of the UGC Act 1956 and declared that the Institute is fit to receive Central assistance under section 12(b) of the UGC Act 1956.
