Swecha is a non-profit organization formed in the year 2005, is a part of Free Software Movement of India (FSMI). This organization is a social movement that works towards enlightening the masses with the essence of Free Software and to liberate knowledge to the commoners. Swecha is a vibrant community of software users, students, academicians and software professionals/developers determined to pr

ovide quality software built on the guidelines of free software development model. Swecha aims at providing global software solutions to the local people with the Free Software development model by working together with the community of developers and users all over. Swecha organizes different workshops and seminars in the Indian state of Telangana among the youth to spread the idea of knowledge liberation. The swecha has a sizable number of followers in states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh and a vibrant community of software users, students, academicians and software professionals/developers determined to provide quality software built on the guidelines of free software development model. Presently Swecha is active a GLUG (GNU Linux user group) in many engineering colleges, One of the declared aims of the movement is to take Free Software and its ideological implications to computer users “across the digital divide”, to under-privileged sections of society.More than 500 volunteers getting trained in the different technologies like Drupal, Python, Firefox Os App Development and Open Source Hardware etc., to bring awareness Employment Opportunities in a Changing Technology Landscape.

--> Swecha Os is a free software project
aimed at coming out with a localised version of GNU/Linux Operating System in Telugu and providing global software solutions to the local people with the Free Software development model by working together with the community of developers and users all over. The prime objective of Swecha OS is to provide a complete computing solution to a population that speaks and understands only Telugu. The target users of the Distro being the entire community that is a prey of the digital divide. This project helps in coming out with a solution for the digital divide and allows the possibility of digital unite becoming a reality.The project aims at bridging the gap between the computer technology that exists predominantly in English and the Telugu-speaking community of India. The project also aims at providing a framework for development and maintenance of Free Software projects taken up by the community.

--> Bala Swecha is a free software project initiated by the Swecha for tiny tots, It is a school distro with many of the useful interactive applications for the school goers. Its stack is filled with educational suites for all the standards right from elementary to 10th standards. They cover a wide range of applications which make the student learn Maths, Physics, Geography, Chemistry e.t.c., very easily. Swecha has taken up many activities in training the school teachers, computer instructors of several government schools. The aim of the Distro is to deliver a Free Software based operating system for the project of "Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan" initiated by the government. There isnt such operating system till now which gives full freedom with an educational stack. Swecha has the plans of localizing BalaSwecha for the benefit of telugu medium students.

--> E-Swecha is a free software project initiated by the Swecha and is aimed at developing a free Operating System, which is not built by a software firm. neither is it built by a few programmers. it is a collaborative work of hundreds of Swecha Volunteers/engineering students in and around hyderabad to, for and by the engineering students. Swecha Intensive Industry Training Camp - 2016
Job seekers, especially from rural areas, are increasingly finding it
difficult to find a job due to limited access to resources and decreasing
opportunities across the globe. Intensive Industry Training Camp (IITC) is
an annual training program, conducted by Swecha, that improves students'
learning capacity with a team driven environment. Going beyond simple
technology introduction with assignments, IITC provides an integration
system that consolidates technology learning through Project Stimulated
Learning.
Project Stimulated Learning & #150; All the learning at IITC happens by
making students (through teams) involve in a project. Eg. Learning HTML5 &
CSS3 is done by involving the students in a project of Firefox Operating
System Application Development. In the process, students acquire not only
measurable progress in technology learning but also attain different
perspectives of technology development/product development.
The Times are changing in software industry. Initially (read 20 years
back), software industry automated the existing industry (finance,
mechanical etc) of that time. But, today, software industry itself is
getting automated. Hence, we are seeing a change (and drop) in
opportunities for the job seekers. Simultaneously, this change also opened
opportunities in the following sectors & #150; Internet of Things (IoT),
Python, Content Management Systems & Multimedia.
Smart Irrigation System:
The Internet of Things is all the rage. Gartner Projects states that the
Internet of Things will bring a total economic value-add of $1.9 trillion
by 2020. and the number of connected devices will reach 26 billion, while
information managed by enterprises will grow by 14x. Building a Smart
Irrigation System using Aurdino (IoT) will be a good learning experience
for students. The students will be implementing the developed project on
field - an experience which is powerful addition to a resume.
Smart News Publisher:
Content management has become a foundation stone in any organization, be
it in the form of a knowledge management framework, database management,
employee file and folder management, digital asset management, record
management or any other form. Building a News publisher using Drupal &
python will enable them to work on cms projects after graduation.
FreedomBox:
The FreedomBox is personal server running a free software operating
system, with free applications designed to create and preserve personal
privacy.
Multimedia & #150; Film Making:
This is one area which hasn't lost shine since its inception. It continues
to be the most sort after software profession to be a multimedia
developer. The difference in our course is that students are exposed to
zero-cost (but high potential) multimedia tools that enable them to work
independently on multimedia projects after graduation.
Soft skills :
Current generation with limited exposure to literature, find it difficult
to express and communicate their ideas. Due to explosion of information
they are able to frame ideas on varied subjects, but expressing and
communicating the same (even in their mother tongue) is a problem and
crisis that current generation is going through. Our soft skills program
will expose the students to live environment where they need to express
themselves and make them confident to have and express their ideas in
different forms such as spot-seminars, stand-up talks, mock interviews,
group discussions.
IT companies and Start-ups will be coming to Swecha Summer camp to find
suitable candidates for recruitment. It would be a great opportunity for
students, please inform them the same.
