Today, the staff of Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Wadwan assembled in warmth and reverence to honour Mr. Abdul Gani Malik, Lab Assistant, on the occasion of his retirement. Though his official superannuation falls on 31-12 2025, we gathered today, our last working day before the winter break, to offer him the respect and affection he so richly deserves. The ceremony was graced by Mr. Farooq Ahmad Koul, Principal (DDO), Mr. Abdul Hameed Mir, Former Principal, and the entire school staff.
Mr. Abdul Gani Malik’s journey in the Education Department spans 32 years, a long and steady path marked not by noise, but by dignified service. His time in this institution was brief compared to his larger career, yet it shone with a quiet sincerity. Within the laboratory, he carried his duties with calm precision, humility, and a sense of responsibility that never wavered. His presence, though gentle, was dependable; his work, though simple in appearance, was essential to the rhythm of learning.
As Shakespeare reminds us,
"The meaning of life is to find your gift; the purpose of life is to give it away."
And in his understated way, Mr. Abdul Gani Malik gave his gift every day, steadfastness, courtesy, and the silent discipline of a man committed to his role.
Now, as he steps toward a new chapter, he leaves behind a trail of goodwill, a reputation of integrity, and the affection of those who worked beside him. The walls of the school may forget the passing of time, but they will not forget the grace of his conduct.
We, the staff and students of GGHSS Wadwan, offer our deepest gratitude and heartfelt prayers. May his days ahead be filled with health, peace, and the gentle contentment that follows a life of honest service.

lluminating minds and celebrating merit: A confluence of aspirations at GGHSS Wadwan.
In an inspiring convergence of academic excellence, athletic achievement, and intellectual enrichment, the Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Wadwan today on 29/07/2025 hosted a vibrant and multifaceted event. The occasion brought together a Career Counseling Session, a Felicitation Ceremony for NEET qualifiers, Academic Toppers from Classes 10th, 11th, and 12th, and National level Sports Achievers, along with a celebration of the NEP-2020 Mela (Paigam), all convened under the directions of the Directorate of School Education, Kashmir, vide letter dated 28/07/2025.
Presided over by Mr. Farooq Ahmad Koul, Principal, and Mtr. Ishrat Jahan, Vice Principal, the function was graced by a distinguished lineup of guests. Syed Humayun Qaiser, Former Director of All India Radio, Srinagar, served as the Chief Guest, while Mr. Abdul Hameed Mir, Former Principal of GHSS Wadwan, and Dr. Ishrat Shakeel, Former Joint Director of the Department of Animal Husbandry, Kashmir, attended as Guests of Honour.
Heads of cluster institutions under GHSS Wadwan attended with their student contingents, and notably, parents of the NEET qualifiers were also present, their faces radiant with pride and joy, a living testament to familial perseverance and sacrifice. The programme was emceed with eloquence and poise by Mr. Javid Hussain Kirmani.
In his address, Mr. Farooq Ahmad Koul, Principal, emphasized the transformative potential of the National Education Policy 2020, which recently completed five years. He reiterated the institution's commitment to realising its objectives and praised the achievements of the NEET qualifiers, academic scholars, and sports champions alike.
Syed Humayun Qaiser, the erudite Chief Guest, delivered a deeply insightful address highlighting the imperative role of education in shaping well-rounded citizens. With the charisma of a seasoned communicator and the gravitas of a cultural custodian, he then conducted a lively and interactive question and answer session with the students. Touching on themes of career choices, the role of media in modern society, and ethical dilemmas faced by youth, Syed Humayun Qaiser’s responses were laced with wit, wisdom, and profound simplicity, drawing resounding applause from both students and the assembled intellectuals. His ability to elucidate complex ideas with lucidity was nothing short of mesmerizing.
In his emotionally stirring address, Mr. Abdul Hameed Mir inspired students to remain committed and patient in their academic and personal journeys. Drawing on the powerful metaphor of the bamboo tree, he explained that during its first five years, the tree remains barely visible above ground as it silently builds a vast and intricate root system beneath the surface. Then, in just six weeks, it suddenly shoots up to 90 feet. This, he emphasized, mirrors the path to greatness, where years of quiet perseverance and foundational growth often precede sudden, remarkable breakthroughs. His message was clear, transformative success is rarely instant, it is the cumulative result of consistent effort, discipline, and inner development over time.
Dr. Ishrat Shakeel, renowned for his eloquence and grounded in Islamic ethics, offered motivational insights to the students, blending spiritual wisdom with contemporary educational principles. His presence invigorated the event with moral clarity and purpose.
The felicitation of the achievers was graciously conducted by Dr. Yaseen Dar, Lecturer, while the vote of thanks was presented with warmth and dignity by Mr. Bashir Sahib, Senior Lecturer.
Among the awardees, Mr. Mohammad Altaf Mir, Senior Assistant, was bestowed the Best Financial Management Award, presented by his former mentor, Mr. Abdul Hameed Mir, adding a sentimental layer of continuity and mentorship to the honour. Likewise, Mr. Mohammad Ayoub, PEM, was recognized for his outstanding contributions in the field of Sports, where his dedication and leadership have brought distinction to the institution’s athletic pursuits.
This ceremonious day stood as a tribute to perseverance, parental support, professional excellence, and pedagogical evolution, a collective reaffirmation of the school’s mission to nurture not just students, but future changemakers.

All is well that ends well, yet some farewells weigh heavy on the heart.

On 30th April 2025, the staff of Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Wadwan gathered in solemn joy and deep reverence to honour a towering figure in the world of education Mr. Abdul Hameed Mir, our respected Principal, on the occasion of his superannuation.
The journey of Mr. Abdul Hameed Mir began in the noble halls of the Education Department on 18th May 1989. With a soul devoted to knowledge and a spirit moulded in humility, he walked the path of service with distinction and steadfast commitment for over 36 years—a span not just counted in time, but measured in lives touched, minds shaped, and futures uplifted.
From his early days in Education Zone Soibugh, through his meaningful tenures at GHS Gariend Khurd, HSS Pakherpora, HSS Panzan, BHSS Budgam, GHSS Budgam, HSS Sholipora, and finally at GGHSS Wadwan, his name became synonymous with honesty, wisdom, and quiet strength.
He was promoted as Lecturer on 8th July 2005, ascended to Senior Lecturer on 25th February 2011, and ultimately earned the revered position of Principal on 6th February 2023. Each step of this journey was not a promotion alone, but a recognition of his excellence, a reflection of his steadfast integrity, and a reward for the grace with which he bore the torch of education.
In the spirit of Shakespeare’s verse:
"When he shall die, take him and cut him out in little stars,
And he will make the face of heaven so fine
That all the world will be in love with night."
Though Mr. Abdul Hameed Mir now lays down the mantle of office, he leaves behind a constellation of inspiration—his unblemished service record, his soft-spoken wisdom, his simplicity, and a legacy of integrity and moral clarity that shall echo through the corridors of our school long after his footsteps grow still.
We, the staff and students of GGHSS Wadwan, extend our deepest gratitude and warmest prayers to a man who gave his all and asked for little. May the next chapter of his life be filled with peace, purpose, and well-deserved rest.
