Master of Management Studies program intends to develop competent high caliber management thinkers and practitioners for efficient running of any business and industry. It is an academic discipline, a social science whose objective is to study social organization. As a discipline, management comprises the interlocking functions of formulating corporate policy and organizing, planning, controlling,
and directing a firm's resources to achieve a policy's objectives. While management trends can change rapidly, the long term trend in management has been defined by a market embracing diversity and rising service industry. Managers are currently being trained to encourage greater equality for minorities and women in the workplace by offering increased flexibility in time worked, better retraining, and innovative and usually industry specific performance markers. Managers destined for the service sector are being trained to use unique measurement techniques, better worker support and more charismatic leadership styles. Master of Management Studies, a post graduate program was initiated in the year 2007 with a sanctioned intake of 60 students and the intake increased to 120 in the year 2011. Since that time, numerous students have gone on to take positions within academic institutions, and in organizations. The highly motivated, qualified and experienced faculty and the energetic students work together extensively to build interdisciplinary knowledge in the finance, communication, operations, systems and marketing. Beyond syllabus activities are conducted for the betterment of employment in academia, government, research, industry and management positions. Master in Management Studies department at Vidyalankar Institute of Technology offers a two year postgraduate program in Management Studies affiliated to University of Mumbai. Postgraduate Course (MMS): It is a two year postgraduate degree course. Functional groups are Marketing, Finance, Human Resource, Operations and Systems.
