โGuruji [Srila BV Narayan Gosvami Maharaja ji] said if one really wants to see what is shisya-vatsalya (the love of Guru to disciples), see this from my Guruji [Srila B.P. Kesava Gosvami Maharaja ji]. Guruji [Srila BV Narayana Gosvami Maharaja ji] was talking about a pastime of Paramgurujiโs disciple, whose name was Sripad Bhagavan das Prabhuji as far as I can remember. He encountered a very bad illness. So Guruji [Srila BV Narayana Gosvami Maharaja ji] said that all the residents of the matha requested Paramguruji to take Sri Bhagavan das Prabhu to the hospital. But Bhagavan das Prabhu needed someone to serve him at all times because of his severe illness. So Paramguruji did not send him to the hospital. What did he do instead?
In Sri Uddharan Gaudiya Matha, Chunchara, there is a small bhajana-kuti of Paramguruji on the ground floor with a small veranda outside it. Bhagavan das Prabhuji was so sick that he used to vomit blood, and his stomach was upset so he had to repeatedly visit the bathroom. Guruji said that an awful smell came from him just by going close to him, and no matha-resident wanted to serve him. Guruji said that Paramguruji kept him in his room! Not outside! โHe will not go anywhere, he will stay with me.โ Paramguruji kept him in his room and made a temporary bathroom right outside his bhajana-kuti for Bhagavan das Prabhuโs convenience. Guru Maharaja-ji said that Paramguruji performed all the services of Bhagavan das Prabhu with his own hands. That person who no one wanted to go close to because of his smell, Paramguruji served that very person with his own hands!
Paramguruji had a few disciples that left the world during Paramgurujiโs manifest pastimes like Sri Ananga Mohana Prabhuji and Sri Bhikshuk Maharaj ji. When Pujyapad Bhikshuk Maharaj ji left the world, Paramguruji became very emotional. Paramguruji said that because he was a brahmachari from birth, he never had children and didnโt know how it felt when a parent lost their child. But, he said he knew how it felt when a disciple leaves him, not only once or twice, but Bhagavan made him feel this separation again and again. Paramguruji became emotional and started to weep.โ
