Dr. Pattisapu Ramajogi Gangadharam academic and research cell is inaugurated in the department of neurosurgery, Andhra medical college, Visakhapatnam, by Dr. P V Sudhakar, Principal, Andhra Medical College. In his inaugural address, Prof Sudhakar reiterated the necessity of clinical research in the teaching institutes. In addition to the existing clinical and research projects, Andhra medical college is striving hard to establish a stem cell research unit. This will benefit many patients with different clinical problems like spinal cord injuries. He said the research unit is established with an idea of doing clinical research in the department, which should ultimately be translated for better patient care. Dr Satya vara prasad, Prof and HOD Neurosurgery said that naming the research unit after Dr Gangadharam is very apt, in view of his contributions in the field of Tuberculosis. Dr M.V Vijayasekhar, Prof said Gangadharam was associated with Andhra University and has done extensive work on atypical mycobacterium. and has more than 250 publications. He thanked Dr. Jogi Pattisapu and Annapurna Pattisapu for their liberal contributions to the department of Neurosurgery.
