After more than a decade of anticipation, Andhra Pradesh's long-awaited dream has finally become a reality with the launch of South Coast Railway (SCoR), the 18th Railway Zone of Indian Railways.
The journey began after the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh in 2014, when the demand for a separate railway zone gained momentum. Years of discussions, promises, and planning have now culminated in the establishment of South Coast Railway with its headquarters at Visakhapatnam.
This new zone is expected to strengthen railway administration, improve operational efficiency, boost infrastructure development, and support the economic growth of Andhra Pradesh. It marks a historic milestone not only for the state but also for the future expansion of Indian Railways.
