“Whose Forest? Whose Freedom?” 🌿🇮🇳

On 16 August, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan’s Public School, Visakhapatnam, in collaboration with Visakhapatnam Public Library, conducted an open storytelling session for students across the city, offering young minds an engaging way to understand the deeper meaning of freedom through history and stories. Led by eminent storyteller and voice artist Mrs. M. Sita Srinivas, the session brought alive the inspiring story of Komaram Bheem and the powerful message of “Jal, Jangal, Jameen,” encouraging children to reflect on courage, belonging, justice and the rights of communities. The session included storytelling, songs and a creative craft activity, making it a meaningful and enriching experience for young learners. 🇮🇳

*Empowering Adolescents: A Health Awareness Session for Girls*

Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan’s Public School, Visakhapatnam, in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Vizag Metro, organised an interactive health awareness session for the girls of Classes VIII, IX and X. Dr. M. V. R. Sailaja, Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist, Rainbow Hospital engaged with the students on important aspects of adolescent health and well-being, creating a safe and informative space for them to understand, discuss and clarify their concerns. The session was a meaningful step towards nurturing healthy, confident and well-informed young individuals.

*🐘 ELEPHANT AWARENESS PROGRAMME 🌿*

To commemorate World Elephant Day, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan’s Public School, Visakhapatnam, conducted an Elephant Awareness Programme to sensitise students about the importance of elephants, their role in our ecosystem, and the urgent need for their conservation. 🐘🌏

📢 Awareness Rally:
Students participated enthusiastically in an awareness rally, carrying colourful banners and raising slogans to spread the message of elephant conservation and wildlife protection. 🪧🐘

🎥 Awareness Screening:
A short awareness video on Project Elephant and elephant conservation was screened for the students, helping them understand the challenges faced by elephants and the importance of protecting their natural habitats. 🌳🐘

🌱 Creating Young Conservationists:
The programme was an enriching experience that encouraged students to develop greater care, compassion, and responsibility towards wildlife and the environment. 💚🌍

Nurturing Young Democratic Leaders: School Council Elections 2026–27

Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan's Public School, Visakhapatnam, successfully conducted the School Council Elections 2026–27, providing students with a firsthand experience of the democratic process. Elections were held for the posts of School Head Boy, School Head Girl, Sports Captain, Sports Vice-Captain, and the Captains and Vice-Captains of the four houses—Vishwamitra, Valmiki, Vyasa, and Vasishta. The election process began with self-nomination, followed by profile scrutiny, campaign speeches, and interactions with students.

Voting was conducted through a digital voting system using Google Forms, enabling students of Grades III to X to cast their votes in a fair, transparent, and technology-enabled manner. The initiative not only encouraged students to step forward as responsible leaders but also instilled the values of democracy, leadership, accountability, and informed decision-making, preparing them to become responsible citizens of tomorrow.

*Where Stories, Music & Art Came Together to Inspire Young Minds! 🎭🎶🎨*

Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan's Public School, Visakhapatnam, in collaboration with Visakhapatnam Public Library, successfully conducted the Miyawaki Storytelling Session, offering children from schools across the city a unique cultural learning experience.

Certified Storyteller Mrs. Ravuri Vara Lakshmi brought the traditional Japanese Kamishibai (wooden theatre) storytelling technique to life through the timeless folktale Tsuru no Ongaeshi (The Grateful Crane), narrated in both Telugu and English. Enriched with live musical sound effects, Telugu rhymes, vibrant Gond art picture cards, and creative follow-up activities, the session beautifully fostered empathy, kindness, gratitude, creativity, and cultural appreciation among the young participants.
