It was founded by a young and vibrant educationist, Dr. J. Arawindhan and his beloved mother, Smt. Adhilakshmi, with the aim of taking education to new heights and to provide world class education to the people of Puducherry. ACHARIYA under the able guidance of our MANAGING TRUSTEE and CHIEF MENTOR, Dr. J. Arawindhan started various educational institutions in and around Pondicherry. ACHARIYA aims

at building a new society that would be the face of emerging India. In July 2004, ACHARIYA EDUCATIONAL PUBLIC TRUST added another feather to its cap by establishing ACHARIYA ARTS AND SCIENCE COLLEGE, affiliated to the prestigious Pondicherry University. Right from its inception, the college continues to get the support and love of the students and their parents. Its growing popularity has multiplied manifold in the recent years from a modest beginning, ACHARIYA ARTS AND SCIENCE COLLEGE was upgraded as a Post Graduate Institution from the year 2009 - 2010. The students are bestowed with the best education academically and otherwise. They not only enrich their academic knowledge but also get themselves involved in co-curricular and extra-curricular activities. Their growth is monitored by well trained and dedicated teachers. Besides curricular activities the students take active part in N.C.C., N.S.S., workshops, seminars, industrial visits and educational trips in order to explore their true potentials. The state of art classrooms, laboratories, library, auditorium, hostel, canteen and transport facilities make it possible to achieve greater heights in the years to come. In nutshell, ACHARIYA ARTS AND SCIENCE COLLEGE has become "A place for your placement…". Of late AASC has become the first and the most sought after institution in the Union Territory of Puducherry.

World Photography Day – Educational Visit

Happy Greetings!

On account of World Photography Day, the Department of Visual Communication organized an educational visit to Art & Craft Village, Puducherry, on 19.08.2026.

Dr. Bubesh Gupta, Founder and Director, Universal Eco Foundation, addressed the students and shared his valuable expertise and insights on photography and visual storytelling. His session was particularly enriching and motivating for the first-year students, inspiring them to explore photography with greater creativity and keen observation.

As part of the programme, a Photo Challenge was assigned to all the students. The students actively participated and captured stunning and creative photographs, demonstrating their keen observation, photographic skills, and artistic vision.

The visit was a meaningful and engaging learning experience, combining practical exposure, creativity, and visual exploration.

We express our sincere gratitude to our Respected Chief Mentor, Dr. J. Arawindhan Ji, and our Beloved Principal, Dr. R. Ushadevi Mam, for their constant guidance and support.

I am deeply honoured and humbled to share that I have been conferred with the *Outstanding Award in Library and Information Science by the *Madras Library Association (MALA)* for my contributions to the field of *Library and Information Science*.

Receiving this prestigious recognition is a great encouragement and motivates me to continue my sincere efforts towards the growth and development of library services and the academic community.

I sincerely thank our Beloved MD ji *Dr.J.Arawindhan* , Respected Principal *Dr.R.Ushadevi* for their constant support, encouragement, and blessings.

Greeting from Department of Physical Education

80TH INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION – 2026
The 80th Independence Day Celebration was organized with great patriotic spirit and enthusiasm at the Achariya Arts and Science College (AASC) Campus on 15 August 2026. The programme was organized by the Department of Physical Education, in association with the Fine Arts Club , to commemorate the historic occasion and celebrate the spirit of freedom, unity, patriotism, and national pride.
The celebration commenced with a warm and respectful welcome to the Chief Guest and Guests of Honour. The President and Secretary of the Fine Arts Club, along with the NSS team
the March Past was conducted with discipline, coordination, and patriotic fervour. Students representing various departments participated enthusiastically, demonstrating their discipline, team spirit, and respect for the nation.

The gathering was then addressed by Dr. R. Ushadevi, Principal, who delivered a special Independence Day address. In her inspiring message, she highlighted the significance of Independence Day, the sacrifices of our freedom fighters, and the responsibility of young citizens in contributing towards the progress and development of the nation.

The celebration was enriched by a vibrant series of cultural and patriotic performances presented by students from various departments.
The major performances included:
• Patriotic Song Performances by students from various departments
• Solo Dance Performance
• Group Dance Performance
• Silambam Performance, showcasing traditional Indian martial arts and cultural heritage
• Karate Performance,

The combined efforts of the Department of Physical Education, Fine Arts Club, NSS team , students, faculty members, and organizers contributed to the successful conduct of the programme.
The celebration concluded with the National Anthem, which was rendered with utmost respect and patriotic fervour by the entire gathering.

We take this opportunity to express our sincere gratitude to our beloved MD Ji , our respected Principal, Dr. R. Ushadevi, the Head of the Department, and all faculty members for their constant encouragement and support, which motivates our students to achieve excellence in academic and co-curricular activities.
