Report on Nutritional Exhibition – “Nutri Sampada”

The Department of Nursing organized a Nutritional Exhibition titled “Nutri Sampada” on 7th November 2025 at the Multipurpose Hall, Government College of Nursing, District Hospital, Vijayapura. The event aimed to promote awareness about the importance of nutrition in maintaining health and preventing disease, while encouraging creativity and scientific understanding among nursing students.
Dignitaries Present
The function was graced by esteemed dignitaries:

Event Coordinator: Mr. Gopal Zalaki, Assistant Professor, Department of Adult Health Nursing
Inaugural Function
The event began with the ribbon-cutting ceremony by the dignitaries, marking the official inauguration of the exhibition. The stage function commenced with a melodious invocation song by Ms. Bhuvaneshwari, followed by a welcome address by Ms. Preeti Nadageri.
The dignitaries then unveiled the exhibition name “Nutri Sampada”, symbolizing the treasure of nutrition. This was followed by the distribution of “Jeevamrita”, a kalash filled with tender coconut water, signifying the divine and natural essence of nutrition. All participants took a nutrition oath reaffirming their commitment to healthy living.
Opening Note
Mr. Gopal Zalaki delivered the opening note, emphasizing the significance of nutrition for a healthy life. He explained that students were divided into groups based on Kannada literary proverbs related to food, each focusing on a unique nutritional concept.
Exhibition Groups and Themes
1. Sedentary Lifestyle and Nutrition – “ಕೂತು ಉಂಡರೆ ಕುಡಿಕೆ ಹೊನ್ನು ಸಾಲದು”
2. Food Preservation Methods – “ಒಂದಗಳವು ಕೆಡದಂತೆ ಅರ್ಪಿತವಾಗಲಿ”
3. Cooking Methods – “ನಳಪಾಕ”
4. Food for Pregnant and Lactating Mothers – “ಬಾಣಂತಿ ಮತ್ತು ತಾಯಿಯ ಆಹಾರ”
5. Breastfeeding and Salt Effect on Health – “ಉಪ್ಪಿಗಿಂತ ರುಚಿಯಿಲ್ಲ ತಾಯಿಗಿಂತ ಬಂಧುವಿಲ್ಲ”
6. Safe and Hygienic Food Handling – “ಆಹಾರ ನೈರ್ಮಲ್ಯ ಮತ್ತು ಸುರಕ್ಷಿತತೆ”
7. National Nutritional Programme – “ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೀಯ ಪೌಷ್ಟಿಕಾಂಶ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮ”
8. PEM and Weaning – “ಹಸಿದವನಿಗೆ ಗೊತ್ತು ಅನ್ನದ ಬೆಲೆ”
9. Space Nutrition and Organic Farming – “ಬಾಹ್ಯಾಕಾಶ ಆಹಾರ ಮತ್ತು ಸಾವಯವ ಕೃಷಿ”
10. Exercise, Nutrition, and Immunity – “ಕೈ ಕೆಸರಾದರೆ ಬಾಯಿ ಮೊಸರು / ಜೈ ಜವಾನ್, ಜೈ ಕಿಸಾನ್”
Highlights of the Exhibition
The exhibition witnessed enthusiastic participation from all students, with creative and educational stalls that demonstrated nutritional concepts through models, charts, and food samples. The dignitaries and faculty members appreciated the students’ efforts and the innovative presentation of nutritional themes.
A special attraction was the “GCON Nutri Sampada Café”, organized by students Pooja Jevoor, Sanika, and Riyan. The live counter served healthy, hygienic, and affordable food items such as:
Sprouts Chat – ₹30/plate
Fruit Salad – ₹25/plate
Boiled Egg – ₹10/piece
Green Tea – ₹10/cup
The café was a grand success, praised for its nutritional value and cheerful service.
Feedback and Remarks
During the feedback session, the faculty and dignitaries shared their thoughts:
Mr. Sharanabasappa Hipparagi, Assistant Professor, Department of Mental Health Nursing, commended the inclusion of space nutrition, linking it to the success of the Axiom 4 mission and the research on growing sprouts (green gram and fenugreek) in space by scientists from UAS Dharwad and IIT Dharwad with astronaut Shubhanshu Shukla. He also highlighted the connection between nutrition and mental health.
Mr. R. S. Patil, Assistant Professor, Adult Health Nursing, appreciated each group’s work and discussed obesity and undernutrition humorously with practical examples.
Dr. Lalasaheb Bagalkot, Professor, Department of Child Health Nursing, emphasized the importance of healthy food choices, urging students to choose foods beneficial to the body rather than those appealing only to taste.
Dr. Saraswati Sajjan, Chief Guest, praised the organization and live cafeteria as the event’s highlight and encouraged continuous efforts toward nutrition awareness.
Dr. Hanamanthappa Hattarkihal, in his presidential address, congratulated students for their creativity in presenting global kitchen, space nutrition, and organic farming themes. He reminded everyone that the message of nutrition should not remain a one-day event but a lifelong practice and encouraged community involvement in spreading nutritional awareness.
Conclusion
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Ms. Priya, expressing gratitude to all dignitaries, faculty members, and students for their active participation. The master of ceremony by Ms. Priya and Ms. Sukanya added charm to the program. The selfie stand and Poshan Abhiyan-themed rangoli art enhanced the festive atmosphere, leaving behind cherished memories of a successful and educational exhibition.
The “Nutri Sampada” exhibition truly showcased the students’ dedication, creativity, and commitment toward promoting healthy living and nutritional awareness in the community.
