THEME: HYDRODESULFURIZATION

This time through UDYOG, we will step into the shoes of a chemical engineer and try to appreciate the role being played by them in a situation. The basic concepts of chemical engineering, along with an analytical mind, is what you need to sail through. You will be given a problem statement on the Hydrodesulfurization process-a process that may be new and exciting for you to delve upon. You have to solve the situations that are mentioned in the problem statement.

With just a week left for the Chemical Engineering fiesta to begin, we are hereby opening the registrations for Osmoze'21 event — Chemathon.

Chemathon is the virtual internship and placement event of osmoze which aims to give you an upper edge when you face the real ones. Chemathon brings to you, a platform to test your proficiency across a multitude of facets.
This year it will be organised completely online.

The Prize Money for the event is INR 10000.

Event Structure:

The event will consist of an online general aptitude test and a personal interview (for those who get selected after the online test).
This is an INDIVIDUAL event.

NOTE: This event is exclusive for the Chemical Engineering Students.
Only SoChem Registered Members are entitled for the prize.

Information Technology today is growing at an impeccable rate and as such being able to code is one such skill which would go a really long way in one's career, regardless of profession. Osmoze brings to you the opportunity to showcase logical thinking and dexterity with algorithms in the form of ChemCoding, an exhilarating coding event.

ChemCoding is a competitive programming event that will test your problem solving and programming skills. You will be given a series of algorithmic puzzles and problems and you will have to come up with not only an accurate but an optimal solution as quickly as possible.

The Society of Chemical Engineers has organized value-added workshops and events in the ongoing session. It's time to bring in some fun. Osmoze'21 is just round the corner, therefore we are planning to initiate the exciting streak of events.

Here we announce the inception of the pre-events of Osmoze 2021.

The pre-events include:

1). Osmocross- An online crossword puzzle solving competition

2). Osmoclick- The photography competition.

The details and the rules for the Osmocross are as follows :

1). There are 3 crossword challenges based on different themes

2). OsmoCross will be emailed to you every Friday at 10 P.M starting from 2nd April

3). All those smarties out there have to rush in to submit their entries first, before 11 P.M to grab goodies and exciting prizes

4). The participant with the maximum number of correct words will be declared the winner of the day

5). You have to fill your responses in the attached google doc link

6). In case of a tie, the entry received first will be given preference

The winner of the events will be rewarded with exciting prizes!!!

Osmoze is just about a month away, and we are all set to launch yet another exciting pre-event — Osmo-Click.
It's an online contest where you must send photos of any events/activities in our daily lives that resemble any chemical phenomenon and provide a proper explanation for the same.

Explanation = 50 points
Creativity = 50 points
Extra 20 points will be awarded per story share with sochem tagged on it.
(Note:- multiple stories with one person will lead to disqualification )

4. Likes of those will be considered who are following Sochem on Instagram page(sochem_iitbhu).
5. Fake likes will lead to disqualification from the contest.
6. If you are facing any difficulty regarding sending an entry to the page, you can mail it with exact details to the coordinators.

We hope you all are doing well and utilising this quarantine time to improve your skills. Sochem team is happy to inform that even in difficult times like this, we didn't lower our spirits, but instead this Pandemic helped us to broaden our way of understanding and to work with limited resources. This pandemic enabled us to conduct our annual department fest Osmoze online, and the fest saw tremendous participation.

Here we are to announce the name of Mr and Ms Chemical 2020, who exhibited an immense curiosity throughout the year and participated in various events organised by Sochem.

With a phenomenal end of Osmoze'20, efforts to organise it completely online for the first time paid off. Every participant did really well. Although there were few who stood out in their tasks. This was all for this time, we will be back next year with same more exciting events.
