Dhamma Talk by Ajahn Ahiṃsako (abbot of Cittaviveka, Chithurst Buddhist Monastery, UK)

For Buddhists, karma (kamma) is not an abstract idea, but something that shapes our daily lives. As cause and effect, karmic conditions provide the template for our existence. Life is not set in stone: at every moment we can plant the seeds of stress and difficulty or create habits of kindness and understanding.

Ajahn Ahimsako was born in California and spent nearly thirty years pursuing a career in classical ballet as a dancer, teacher, and educator in various countries. While living in England he travelled to Sri Lanka, where his interest in Buddhism prompted him to visit London Buddhist Vihara. These experiences led him to follow a monastic life at some of the leading Theravada Buddhist Monasteries outside Asia: Abhayagiri in the USA and Amaravati in the UK. He joined the Chithurst community in the autumn of 2018 and was appointed as the abbot at Cittaviveka in November 2019.

We are delighted that Ajahn Ahiṃsako will deliver this dhamma talk at London Buddhist Vihara, the monastery that played a major part in his journey into Buddhism.
