13th April, 2020 : 101st Anniversary of the Jallianwala Bagh Massacre.

Certain Incidents in the History of a NATION remain painfully etched in the collective memory of the NATION. One such Tragic incident for OUR INDIA is the Jallianwala Bagh, perpetrated by a British General, Reginal Dyer.

On 13th April, 1919 – the day of Baisakhi festival – a meeting was called in the afternoon at the Jallianwala Bagh a ground enclosed on all sides.

Thousands of people, many of whom had come from the surrounding villages to the fairs in Amritsar and were unaware of the ban order imposed by the British, gathered in the meeting.

Suddenly Reginald Dyer appeared there with troops and without any warning to the people, ordered firing on the completely peaceful and defenceless crowd. The crowd consisted mostly of innocent men, women and children who had assembled for a peaceful protest against the British who had reneged on their promise. The fusillade continued till Dyer’s ammunition ran out.

Atleast about 2000 people, if not more, are estimated to have been killed. This cold-blooded carnage, Dyer admitted later, was perpetrated "to strike terror not only in the city of Amritsar, but throughout the Punjab."

The Jallianwala Baghmassacre stunned the people and became a turning point in the history of India’s struggle for freedom.

WE, INDIANS have attained Freedom from the British and WE, as a NATION have moved on Excelling in Every Spheres of Human Development.
But INDIANS should not Forget the Sacrifice of the Martyrs of Our Freedom Struggle.

The Never-say-die Spirit of the BRAVEHEART MARTYRS of INDIAN FREEDOM STRUGGLE is very well expressed in the following verses:

गोली खाके सोए
जलियांबाघ मे हम।
सूनी पडीं कब्र पर
दिया जला के जाना।
[We bit bullets and lost our lives in Jallian Bagh. Do light a lamp at Our lonely graves]

हिंदू और मुस्लिमों की
होती है आज होली।
बेहते है एक रंग में
दामन भिगोके जाना।
[It was like Holi with the blood of Hindus and Muslims
Blood flowed, in the same colour, dip the edge of your garment in the blood]”

Remembering and Bowing Down to All those Unarmed 2000+ BRAVEHEART MARTYRS who sacrificed their LIVES for the NATION.

A Million Salutes to Those BRAVEHEART MARTYRS whose Sacrifice continue to Inspire Generations of INDIANS.

🙏🏻🇮🇳 जय हिन्द l 🇮🇳🙏🏻
