This Diwali, let there be light. From earthen lamps, we mean not toxic candles ๐ช๐ช
And while on the topic of โbetter Diwaliโ, here are some other swaps you must try:
1) Gifting diabetes, cholesterol and obesity yet again? Um, we mean refined sugar-filled mithais. How about gifting good health this year instead? Think fruits. Theyโre the best gifts from Mother Nature herself, and when you gift a basket of natureโs bounty, it shows that you truly care ๐๐๐๐
2) Did you know that the shiny wrapping paper we use to pack gifts is often made with Mylar, a plastic film coated with aluminium? That means it will end up in a landfill and sit there for years, causing harm to the environment. This Diwali, go green in not just what you gift, but also what you wrap it in. ๐
Chuck plastic packaging. Instead of that gaudy, glitzy wrapper, choose some pretty handloom fabrics -- from old dupattas or scarves or even scrap from the neighbourhood tailor! They make your gifts look cool and personalised. Plus, no bad karma for polluting Mother Earth. Now thatโs what we call a double dhamaka.
3) We donโt mean to play party poopers, but really, this one is a no brainer. When you burn polluting fireworks and noisy crackers, youโre literally burning away money. Use that money to buy blankets and warm clothes for someone in need. Youโll bring the glow of love and warmth into someoneโs life that way. ๐๐๐งฆ
4) This Diwali, donโt send out yet another bouquet of flowers that will wilt away in a few days and get tossed in the trash. Send out some indoor plants instead. Not only do they live and thrive for a long time to come, they also purify the air.
Letโs not only have a happier but a BETTER Diwali this year!๐
