Idea of having a Media Education institution was strongly mooted and the Faculty of Journalism and Communication was set up in the M. It initially offered a one year post-graduate Bachelors in Journalism and Communication Programme (BCJ), which five years later, in 1997, was replaced by a four semester Masters in Communication Studies (MCS) programme.The nomenclature of this programme has been recently changed to Master of Journalism and Mass Communication (MJMC).

An awareness program on Cyber Crime will be organized by FJC jointly with Cyber Crime Police Station on 21st August in which Shri Mahendra Motwani, Police Inspector, Cyber Cell, Vadodara will give guidance on cyber crime and preventive measures to tackle them.

Educational Tour to the Statue of Unity!

The students of BJMC I, BJMC II, and MJMC I visited the Statue of Unity on 8th March 2025 as part of an educational tour.

During the visit, they explored the Narmada Dam, understanding its significance as an engineering marvel and a vital solution to water challenges in Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Rajasthan. They also reflected on Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s immense contribution to nation-building, both pre- and post-independence.

The students delved into the history and current relevance of the Narmada Dam and the global significance of the Statue of Unity. Additionally, they explored various sections of the Jungle Safari, witnessing diverse species of flora and fauna.

The tour was guided by faculty members Dr. Atman Desai and Ms. Rakhi, making it a memorable and insightful experience for all.

Experts Nayan Patel (Sales Manager) and Shadab Alam (Product Evangelist) from Fujifilm guided students through the creative and technical intricacies of photography. From hands-on practice with professional tools to mastering cinematic techniques, the workshop was a deep dive into the world of visual storytelling.

On 27th January 2025, FJC hosted a special session on Advertising with Mr. Pantul Kothari, Partner, Tiger Advertising, Vadodara. He shared valuable insights on the evolving landscape of advertising in the digital era, career prospects, and industry challenges.

Highlighting the importance of economics and marketing knowledge, he emphasized that reading newspapers, books, and magazines is crucial for becoming an effective communicator. The session also featured discussions on successful advertising campaigns and their impact on sales.
