Sanskrit Diwas Celebration at The Bright School
The Bright School celebrated Sanskrit Diwas with great enthusiasm as part of the Sanskrit Week celebrations from 25 to 31 August 2026. The celebrations were planned to promote Sanskrit as a vibrant language and to connect students with India's rich literary, artistic and Bharatiya Gyan Parampara.
Sanskrit Assembly:
A special Sanskrit Assembly was conducted where students presented Sanskrit prayers, shlokas, songs, musical presentations and engaging activities. The assembly created an immersive environment where students experienced Sanskrit beyond the classroom and appreciated its beauty and rhythm.
Sanskrit Drama:
Students presented an engaging Sanskrit drama, showcasing their pronunciation, expressions, dialogue delivery and teamwork. The performance demonstrated how Sanskrit can be presented in an enjoyable and creative manner while conveying meaningful values.
Geeta Chanting:
A Bhagavad Gita chanting activity was organised to familiarise students with Sanskrit shlokas and their correct pronunciation and rhythm. Students participated with confidence and devotion, highlighting the timeless relevance of Sanskrit as the language of the Bhagavad Gita.
Mandala Art:
Students participated in a Mandala Art Competition, expressing India's artistic heritage through intricate designs, patterns and symmetry. The activity promoted creativity, concentration and appreciation of traditional Indian art.
Sanskrit Shloka and Action-Word Art – Std. VI:
Students of Std. VI were encouraged to draw and colour Sanskrit shlokas such as “असतो मा सद्गमय” and “विद्या विनियोगेन शोभते”. They also explored Sanskrit through an action-word drawing activity, illustrating words such as चल्, वद्, लिख्, पठ् and नृत्य, thereby making vocabulary learning creative and interactive.
Picture Story Activity – Std. VII:
Students of Std. VII created and coloured a picture story based on their Sanskrit lesson, converting the ideas and events from the chapter into a visual narrative. The activity encouraged comprehension, imagination and creative expression while strengthening their connection with the Sanskrit text.
Bharatiya Gyan Parampara – Std. VIII:
Students of Std. VIII explored the richness of the Bharatiya Gyan Parampara through drawings and visual representations of themes such as the Gurukul tradition, Guru-Shishya Parampara, Vedic learning, Yoga, Krishna-Sudama and the Four Vedas. They also created suitable slogans in Hindi or English for their artwork, reflecting the enduring wisdom of India's knowledge traditions.
Sanskrit Diwas Greetings:
Adding a warm and personal touch to the celebrations, students presented special handmade cards to the teachers, Principal and School President, conveying their Sanskrit Diwas greetings. The thoughtful cards reflected the students' creativity, respect and enthusiasm for preserving and celebrating Sanskrit.
Through this diverse range of art, literature, chanting, drama, storytelling, creative activities and Indian Knowledge Tradition-based learning, Sanskrit Diwas became an enriching and joyful experience for the students. The celebrations reinforced the message that Sanskrit is not merely an ancient language but a living bridge to India's knowledge, culture, literature and timeless values.
