Educational Visit to Mental Hospital

“A meaningful exposure to the field of mental health care, where compassion meets clinical science—offering valuable insights into the diagnosis, management, and rehabilitation of patients with mental illnesses.”

On 24th January 2026, the Department of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology organized an educational field visit to the Mental Hospital, Karelibaug, Vadodara, Gujarat. The visit aimed to provide students with practical exposure to mental health services, psychiatric disorders, patient care, and the functioning of a mental health institution.

The visit helped students understand the clinical, social, and medico-legal aspects of mental health, thereby enhancing their awareness of how mental health care is delivered in real-life settings and bridging the gap between theoretical learning and practical experience.

Baroda Dairy Visit

"Learning beyond textbooks—understanding food safety, quality control, and public health through real-world exposure."

On 13th December 2025, the Department of Community Medicine organized an educational field visit to Baroda Dairy, Vadodara, Gujarat. The visit aimed to provide students with practical insight into large-scale milk processing, quality assurance, hygiene standards, food safety measures, and the role of dairy industries in community nutrition and public health. Students were introduced to various stages of milk collection, processing, pasteurization, packaging, storage, and distribution, highlighting the importance of nutrition, sanitation, and preventive health practices. This visit helped bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and its application in community health and nutrition services.

A total of 60 students from the 3rd BHMS Batch 2022–23 actively participated in the visit, accompanied by two faculty members—Dr. Bhagyalaxmi Jadhav (Professor & HOD, Department of Community Medicine) and Dr. Mandeep Atalia (Assistant Professor, Department of Community Medicine).
