Kashika - A Hand For Children Kashika’s heart and hands are in the interior villages of Uttarakhand, sharing pain and joy of vil We identified around 600 children.

When unprecedented floods ravaged the beautiful terrains of Uttarakhand in 2013, it presented one of the worst humanitarian crises in recent history. The massive wrath of nature which changed many human habitations into rubbles, posed enormous challenges to relief operations undertaken by government, army and many aid organizations. Our team traveled by foot to many villages, which were disconnect

ed from the rest of the world and distributed rations and other essential supplies and our efforts continued with the help of other organizations. Along with supplying relief materials, we did an extensive survey around the villages of Bhangeli, Gunga, Sungar, Hoori, Bukki, Tihar, Sanglai, Kujjan, Natin, Therang and Salang in Bhatwari Block of Uttarkashi to find the deserving children who are in need of support to continue their education. Some organizations have helped us in this endeavor. Goonj helped us to stand on our own legs in the field of service. The Divine Life Society (Sivanand Ashram) of Rishikesh supported generously by granting scholarships to 200 students (Rs.5000/- per student). Ananda Ashram of Kerala sanctioned scholarships to 100 students (Rs.3000/- per student). Adi Sankara Brahma Vidyapeeth of Uttarkashi has sponsored for 25 students for a span of 5 years. We distributed educational materials received from individuals and NGOs to the students in the villages. Moksha and Waves For Water also provided materials which helped us in our relief work....

With deep sorrow, I share that Subhadra Mataji (Bangeli Mataji) left her body today. She was my deepest protector, giving me shelter and food in the very beginning of my social activities in upper Bhatwari. Our first study centre of KASHIKA was in her house at Bangeli Village.

Her contribution and blessings have had a lasting impact on the journey of KASHIKA over the last 12 years. Personally, it is a great loss for me — truly, she was my Annadatri. 🙏

May her noble soul attain peace. Om Shanti.🕉️🌹
