On World Book and Copyright Day, Hem Barua Library, B. Borooah College (Autonomous), organised a Book Fair to promote reading habits, encourage intellectual engagement, and raise awareness of the importance of books and copyright.
The fair featured a diverse collection of books covering literature, academic subjects, competitive examinations, and general knowledge. Renowned publishers and booksellers, including Purbanchal Prakash, Unique Books, and other publishing houses, participated in the event, offering readers access to a wide range of quality publications.
Students, faculty members, and staff enthusiastically visited the fair, explored the book collections, and interacted with the exhibitors. The event served as a vibrant platform to foster a reading culture and inspire lifelong learning within the college community. It was attended by many students and faculty members, thus, showcasing the relevance of books even in the digital age.

The Department of Zoology, B. Borooah College (Autonomous), in collaboration with Sony India, organised a workshop on “Mastering Wildlife Photography – Techniques and Tips” on 25th April 2026. The event was graced by Ms. Kuntala Roychoudhury (Sony Alpha Artisan) as the Resource Person, who delivered an insightful session covering the core principles of wildlife photography — from camera mechanics and field techniques to compositional strategies in natural environments.

Ms. Roychoudhury’s expertise and engaging approach offered students a unique opportunity to bridge scientific field observation with the art of visual documentation — a skill increasingly vital in biodiversity research, conservation communication, and ecological outreach. Her guidance on mastering light, timing, and animal behaviour shed light on how compelling imagery can serve both scientific inquiry and broader public engagement with the natural world.

The workshop witnessed an enthusiastic participation of 50 students from various departments of the college, reflecting the interdisciplinary appeal of wildlife photography as a field.

An awareness seminar and workshop on the occasion of World Food Safety Day (7th June) was organised by the Department of Chemistry, B. Borooah College (Autonomous) on 6th June 2026, in collaboration with the Assam Science Society at Guwahati Refinery Higher Secondary School.

The programme was inaugurated by Mrs. Minakshi Devi, Principal of the school, who highlighted the importance of food safety awareness and appreciated the initiative taken by the Department of Chemistry.

During the seminar, Dr. Bijoy Sankar Goswami, Head of the Department of Chemistry, delivered a lecture on this year’s theme of World Food Safety Day. He discussed various aspects of food safety, including the causes of food contamination and adulteration, their impacts, and measures for prevention and control.

The programme was followed by a hands-on workshop demonstrating simple chemical tests for detecting different types of food adulteration. An interactive quiz competition on food safety was also organised for the students, making the event both informative and engaging.
