The Congregation of the Mother of Carmel is the first indigenous Catholic Christian Religious Congregation for women, founded at Koonanmmavu, Kerala on February 13, 1866. With a solemn profession of a life-long commitment to Jesus, the sisters grow in interiority and holiness through prayer, contemplation and asceticism. A harmonious blending of contemplation and action, the one leading to the other in mutual enrichment, is the spirit of the congregation. CMC aims at the integral formation of the human person with a view of empowering the person to create a society inspired by the Christian values of service in love, peace, justice, and fellowship based on equality. The students are enlightened in mind and spirit to develop self-esteem and dignity. They are motivated to acquire human and spiritual maturity, in order to discover God in their personal life, and to realize that it is in the gift of oneself in the service of others that one will become free and mature. Carmel Convent School, Ujjain had a very humble beginning in a rented building at Dwarka Puri, Ujjain in 1997. The foundation of Carmel Convent Senior Secondary School, Kamed was laid on 23rd December 1999. With the grace of God and the generous support of the parents, the school has grown in leaps and bounds to be a full-fledged Senior Secondary School. In Carmel, we endeavor to nurture the students to be outstanding, foster life skills, and promote human values of trust, sharing, tolerance and compassion. In the global scenario, the students are engaged and encouraged to emerge with confidence as makers of future destiny.
