Vande Mataram was written on November 7, 1875. And November 7, 2025 marks the 150 years of Vande Mataram. (ಬಂಕಿಮಚಂದ್ರರು ‘ವಂದೇ ಮಾತರಂ’ ಹಾಡನ್ನು ರಚಿಸಿದ ಕಾಲವನ್ನು ಭಾರತೀಯ ಪಂಚಾಂಗದ ಪ್ರಕಾರ ನೋಡುವುದಾದರೆ ಶಕೆ ೧೭೯೭ರ ಕಾರ್ತಿಕ ಶುದ್ಧ ನವಮಿ ಅಥವಾ ಅಕ್ಷಯ ನವಮಿಯಂದು ಎಂದು ತಜ್ಞರು ಗುರುತಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಅದು ೧೮೭೫‌ರ ನವೆಂಬರ್ ೭ ಆಗಿತ್ತು ಎಂದು ತಿಳಿಯುತ್ತದೆ)

Today is the150th Birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, great Freedom fighter, the Unifier of India, the first Deputy Prime Minister and the first Home Minister of India, who was popularly known as the 'Iron Man of India'.
We are observing this day as the National Unity Day / Rashtriya Ekta Diwas and we offer our respectful tributes and homage to Sardar Patel.

On this occasion we reflect on the words of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel...

Gandhi Jayanti Celebrations at MGM College, Udupi.
We offered our tributes to Mahatma Gandhiji and Lal Bahadur Shastriji on their Jayanti. Students of our College rendered the soulful melodies of Ramdhun, Bhajans, and Prayers signifying Sarvadharma Samabhava. Dr. Vasumati Bhat, HoD, Sanskrit guided the students for Bhajans.

Floral Tributes were offered to Gandhiji and Shastriji by the dignitaries.

Dr. Rajendra K, Head, Department of Sociology, Dr. G. Shankar Government First Grade College for Women, Ajjarakadu, Udupi, was the Chief Guest and the resource person. He delivered the Gandhi Jayanti Lecture 2025 and spoke on the life and message of Gandhiji and Shastriji. He narrated various instances from Gandhiji's life and explained how they are moral lessons for us. He also explained social thoughts of Gandhiji and the role of Shastriji in the freedom movement. He distributed the prizes to the winners of Gandhi Jayanti Competitions 2025.

Prof. Vanita Maiya, Principal, MGM College, delivered the presidential remarks and stressed upon the need of incorporating the principles of Gandhiji and Shastriji into our educational system.

Dr. Vishwanatha Pai M, Vice Principal, MGM College, spoke on the relevance of Gandhiji and Shastriji in the contemporary and future situations. He mentioned the contributions of Lal Bahadur Shastri to the empowerment of our country.

Dr. Devidas S Naik, Principal, MGM Evening College, explained the multifaceted excellence of Gandhiji and greatness of Shastriji's simplicity.

Prof. Malathi Devi A, Principal, MGM PU College, spoke on the significance of celebrating Gandhi and Shastri Jayanti.

Mr. Vinith Rao, in-charge of Gandhian Study Centre, welcomed and also rendered the vote of thanks.

Mr. Suchit Kotian, HoD, Journalism, compered the programme.

Mr. Kishore H.V., Librarian, Mr. Vidyanath K, HoD, Political Science, helped in the successful organization of the programme. All the teaching and non teaching staff members, selected students, SWC members, Student volunteers were present.

ಇಂದು ನಾವು ಗಾಂಧಿ ಜಯಂತಿ ಹಾಗೂ ಲಾಲ್ ಬಹಾದ್ದೂರ್ ಶಾಸ್ತ್ರಿಯವರ ಜನ್ಮದಿನವನ್ನು ಆಚರಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದೇವೆ. ಮಹಾತ್ಮಾ ಗಾಂಧೀಜಿ ಹಾಗೂ ಶಾಸ್ತ್ರೀಜಿ ಅವರುಗಳ ಜೀವನವೇ ಬಹಳ ಪ್ರೇರಣಾದಾಯಕವಾದ ಪಾಠಗಳಾಗಿ ನಮಗೆ ಉತ್ತಮ ಮಾರ್ಗದರ್ಶನ ನೀಡುತ್ತಿವೆ. ಈ ದಿನ ನಾವು ಅವರು ತೋರಿಸಿಕೊಟ್ಟ ಮಾರ್ಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಸಾಗುತ್ತಾ ಅಹಿಂಸೆ, ಸತ್ಯ, ಪ್ರಾಮಾಣಿಕತೆ, ಧೈರ್ಯ, ಸ್ವದೇಶಿ ಹಾಗೂ ಸರ್ವೋದಯವನ್ನು ಧ್ಯೇಯವಾಗಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ಅನುಸರಿಸಬೇಕಾಗಿದೆ. ಗಾಂಧೀಜಿ ಹಾಗೂ ಶಾಸ್ತ್ರೀಜಿ ಅವರುಗಳಿಗೆ ನಾವು ಪ್ರಣಾಮಗಳನ್ನು ಸಲ್ಲಿಸುತ್ತೇವೆ.
ಗಾಂಧೀಜಿಯ ಸಂದೇಶಗಳು ಹಾಗೂ ಶಾಸ್ತ್ರೀಜಿಯ ಸಂದೇಶಗಳು ಇಂದು ನಮಗೆ ವೈಯಕ್ತಿಕ, ಸಾಮಾಜಿಕ, ಪ್ರಾದೇಶಿಕ, ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೀಯ, ಹಾಗೂ ಅಂತಾರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೀಯವಾಗಿ ಪ್ರಸ್ತುತವೆನಿಸಿ ಎಂತಹ ಕಠಿಣ ಸವಾಲುಗಳನ್ನು ಕೂಡಾ ಎದುರಿಸುವ ಪ್ರೇರಣೆಯನ್ನು ನೀಡುತ್ತಿವೆ. ಆ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಸದ್ವಿಚಾರಗಳು ನಮಗೆ ದಾರಿದೀಪ.
ಈ ಹಿನ್ನೆಲೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಈ ದಿನ ನಾವು ನಮ್ಮ ಊರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಮೊದಲ ಕಾಲೇಜನ್ನು ಆರಂಭಿಸಿ ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಮಹಾತ್ಮಾ ಗಾಂಧಿಯವರ ಹೆಸರನ್ನು ಇರಿಸಿ ಸಾರ್ಥಕವಾದ ಶಾಶ್ವತ ಸ್ಮಾರಕವಾದ ಜ್ಞಾನ ದೇಗುಲವನ್ನು ಸ್ಥಾಪಿಸಿದ ಡಾ. ಟಿ.ಎಂ.ಎ ಪೈ ಅವರಿಗೂ‌ ಕೃತಜ್ಞತೆಯ ನಮನಗಳನ್ನು ಸಲ್ಲಿಸುತ್ತೇವೆ.

This year the auspicious occasions of Vijaya Dashami and Madhwa Jayanti have come on 2nd October.
ಈ ವರ್ಷ ವಿಜಯ ದಶಮಿ ಮತ್ತು ಮಧ್ವ ಜಯಂತಿ ಕೂಡಾ ಇದೇ ದಿನದಂದು ಬಂದಿರುವ ಕಾರಣ ಹಲವು ಮೌಲಿಕವಾದ ಸಂದೇಶಗಳನ್ನು ಈ ದಿನವು ಸಾರುತ್ತಿದೆ. ನಮಗೆಲ್ಲರಿಗೂ ಒಳಿತಾಗಲಿ ಎಂದು ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥನೆಗಳನ್ನು ಸಲ್ಲಿಸುತ್ತೇವೆ.

We respectfully remember our Founder Dr T. M. A Pai on his 127th Birth Anniversary and gratefully offer our reverential tributes and homage to him 🙏💐🙏

His worldview, works and ideals are boundless sources of inspiration to us. We follow his teachings and rededicate ourselves to the noble path shown by him.

Today we remember Gandhiji’s only visit to Udupi on 25th February 1934.

After all his programmes when Gandhiji was about to depart from Udupi the volunteers of Udupi wanted one word from Gandhiji', and for which he said: “Stand up for the truth at any cost.” In the actual terms it became a potent message and motto for the people to follow. On that evening Gandhiji traveled to Kundapur.
