With most economies around the world facing recessions due to the pandemic, resulting in increased Government spending, shortfall in tax collections and fiscal deficit targets, India is no exception. The Central Government’s Privatization plan for the Indian Railways seems to be finally happening, that too at the right time, given the sudden financial burden on the Government. Promising fast, punctual, safe and clean trains, will this be a turning point in the Indian Railways? Will it be able to transform Indian railways such that it becomes world class and a sign of the country’s progress? Will the Government be able to implement the massive track upgradation required by the time private players are ready to run trains on Indian Railway tracks? To know more on this space, take a look at the presentation below.

“Electric vehicle are an essential strategy in the immediate term to reduce local emission and help improve local air quality” - Kevin Emerson
The prospect of rapid global temperature increase has created the need for a reduction in the use of fossil fuels and the associated emissions. India has committed to cutting its GHG emissions intensity by 33% to 35% percent below 2005 levels by 2030. So Government has proposed $1.4 billion to EV market under the FAME Phase II project between 2019 and 2022 for Zero-emission vehicles (MEVs).

“It is time for a sustainable energy policy which puts consumers, the environment, human health and peace first” – Dennis Kucinich

The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy came with the initiative of ‘One sun, One world, One Grid’ to enable sharing of solar resources among more than 140 countries across the world.

The government has already established power transmission contracts with neighboring countries. India already trades electric power to Bhutan, Nepal, Myanmar, and Bangladesh. It plans to add Sri Lanka to the group.

Today’s post summarizes the project, its prospects, and challenges in brief.

Heard of 5G Conundrum?

5G can boost India's GDP by $1.2 to $2 trillion, by 2030 spurring growth in Industry 4.0, IoT, smart cities and digital economy. Indian Govt. plans to obtain $65 billion from sales of 5G spectrum.

These all sounds a success story and potential reasons to deploy 5G asap in India. So, where does the conundrum lies?

Check the pictures below to know why 5G, as promising as it looks, still has pieces missing from its play board.

‘Education is not the learning of facts but the training of the mind to think’ – Albert Einstein
National education policy 2020 was announced by the Government of India recently. Coming after 34 years of previous NEP, the new policy is forward-looking and suggests reforms like restructuring the school curriculum, brings early childhood care and education into formal schooling structure, and shifts focus to foundational learning. In higher education, the policy seeks to overhaul the regulatory structure and emphasizes flexibility to students, autonomy to institutions, and a global standard multidisciplinary curriculum.
