Why people choose chartered accountancy as a career option out of all,
well let me bring to you some real life illustrations:
1) They thought it’s the best career option available to them after 10+2 in commerce stream (Didn’t even take up the pain to search a bit and evaluate different options.)
2) Random uncles and aunties suggested“beta CA karlo, bahut scope hai” (Now searching for those people so that they can be killed)
3) Sharma Ji ki beti recently completed CA and got placed with a reputed company at a CTC of Rs.10 Lakhs per annum. (What? As a fresher 10 Lakhsss!! Well if CA is the gateway, no problem boss!)
4) They loved accounts in Class 11 and 12.(Poor fellows had no idea what was coming their way- Direct Tax, Service Tax, Costing, Law, Strategic Financial Management, and ISCA. They thought it was more or less all about Accounts and stuff. LOL Math seems so much easier now.)
5) It’s their family tradition (Well their mom, dad, siblings, maternal uncle and cousins literally everyone in the family is a CA or pursuing CA. You see it’s their “khandani parmpara” and breaking it would be considered a sin)
6) They considered themselves “intelligent” students since they scored 80-90%+ in school examinations (And now dying to score even 50% in aggregate!)
7) They wanted to prove to the world they ‘have it in them’ to become a Chartered Accountants (Well this is for that category of students who were considered ‘average’ or ‘below average’ during school time and wanted to prove to the world that they are no less than the so-called ‘intelligent ones’)
8) Their parents asked them to do CA. (Aww..The mamma’s boy or the daddy’s girl literally followed what was told to them)
9) To increase value in the matrimonial market (Lol. Yes I literally heard that reason from an acquaintance. After all jab rishte ayenge toh yahi kahenge na “Agrawal ji ke ladke ne CA kar rakhi hai, apni Dolly k liye isse accha rishta nahi milega”)
10) They didn’t know much about other options available (Dude commerce isn’t just about CA!)
11) Their best friend or lover decided to pursue CA (“How can I choose to pursue some other course where I will not have my ‘BFF’ or my Sweetheart?” And now he/she is either junior/senior to him/her and there are high chances they broke up or one of them dropped the course.)
12) They were not able to identify their passion/talent (Because some talents are so hidden that they are even hidden from the person himself.)
13) They had known a Chartered Accountant who was very much respected by people around him/her (Because every time (she/he) spoke about taxation and finance, you felt (she/he) is the most intelligent person you have ever met)
14) They couldn’t make it to IITs and NITs.(Well thanks to ICAI who doesn’t follow the reservation system. These were people who chose Science after 10th but were not able to make it to the top colleges-IITs and NITs and didn’t wanted to settle for anything less prestigious. Hence the concept of opportunity cost.)
15) Other graduation degree from top colleges would require more investment(Wow! These people knew the concept of ROI even then Baki courses mei paise jayenge aur CA mein sirf jawani jayegi)
16) They were too lazy to attend regular college (So now they must be enjoying at articleship office)
17) They were from a comparatively poor financial background and wanted to create their own destiny (Because when life gave them lemons they decided to grab tequila & salt instead of making plain lemonade!)
18) Their father’s friend –a Chartered Accountant advised not to pursue this course because they considered the kid of not “that kind”. (And it hurt the their ego literally and they wanted to throw CPT marksheet on their face)
19) Their parents/relatives fooled them by saying “beta CA karle, phir ghar ke upar hi office khol lena 5 saal ki mehnat hain phir aram aur maze hain!” (Now this is how they have fooled us from such a long time..beta 10th mei ache number le aa phir mze hain…beta 12th acche se krle phir mze hain..Beta CA krle…beta shadi..Huh!)
20) They were too Dabang and wanted to do something adventurous in life (Kyun na 5 saal tak kuch toofani krte hain?)
