India has undergone rapid changes especially when it comes to the educational scenario. There has been a great shift from heavy dependence on content to 'learning how to learn'. From blackboards to digital boards, we have certainly made a great lot of progress. National Education Policy 2020 (NEP 2020) has played a significant role in redefining the education system. NEP 2020 makes the idea clear that education is not just about textbook knowledge and the policy addresses this issue which has been prevalent in our education system for a long time. Hence active learning or learning through experience is one of the primary areas of focus in the latest national education policy.

Active learning is what the KidsBuddy app is for. The new national education policy in 2020 has introduced a sea of changes in the educational system of India. The latest national education policy's main aim was to reform the education system and bridge the gap between the present learning outcomes and those desired. The highlighting feature of NEP 2020 is its focus on reforming the structure and curriculum of school education with a focus on the flexibility of subjects and eliminating the gap between streams of learning. Yet another goal of the NEP is to achieve a 100 percent Gross Enrolment Ratio in preschool to secondary level by 2030.

A drastic change introduced in the latest policy is the shift from the existing 10+2 structure of school education to a 5+3+3+4, thereby covering children between the ages of 3-18. This idea takes into account children of the age group of 3-6 years, who were not covered in the existing structure, which begins only at grade 1. This focus is because the age group of 3-8 years has been identified globally as a crucial time for the growth of the mental abilities of a child.

NEP 2020 puts forth the idea that there would be no separation between arts & sciences, between curricular and extracurricular activities, and between Vocational and Academic streams. The policy emphasizes the notion of conceptual learning or learning through experience as opposed to the traditional idea of rote learning. Impetus is laid on skill-based learning and technology-supported learning.
