The “College to Career” Workshop, originally scheduled for 10 March 2026, was postponed and successfully conducted on 19 August 2026 at Tura Government College, Tura. The programme was organised by Meghalaya Digital Ecosystem Enablement (MeghDEE), under the Information Technology & Communications Department, Government of Meghalaya, in collaboration with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), Tura Government College.
The programme was attended by 310 students of the 5th Semester BA, BSc and BCom programmes, along with a large number of faculty members of the college.
Two resource persons from the IT&C Department, Government of Meghalaya, attended the programme:
* Mr. Sandy Osmond Khongmawpat, Consultant, SeMT
* Mr. Juber Ahmed Laskar, Consultant, SeMT
The programme began with the Welcome and Introduction delivered by Dr. Marma A. Sangma, Assistant Professor and Head, Department of Philosophy. The programme was presided over by Dr. Chuckles Ch. Marak, Assistant Professor, Department of Zoology.
Mr. Sandy Osmond Khongmawpat presented the Context Setting and Overview of the IT Department, providing students with an insight into the digital ecosystem, initiatives and opportunities associated with the Information Technology sector. This was followed by the “College to Career” presentation by Mr. Juber Ahmed Laskar, who interacted with the students on career opportunities, employability and the transition from college education to professional life.
The workshop provided students with valuable exposure to the changing career landscape and the importance of developing relevant skills and awareness to successfully transition from higher education to the world of work.
The programme concluded with the Vote of Thanks proposed by Mr. Tejan A. Momin, IQAC Coordinator and Head, Department of Physics, who expressed gratitude to the resource persons, the organisers, college authorities, faculty members and students for their active participation and contribution towards the successful conduct of the workshop.
The workshop was a meaningful and engaging initiative aimed at bridging the gap between higher education and career opportunities and was well received by the participating students.
