Since I’m in the hedge fund accounting industry and 90% of hedge funds are based in the US, that’s why I was considering the US. However, the H-1B itself is a challenge. Even normally, there is a lottery system in the US, and it is largely based on luck rather than your profile.

Hi Sandeep, good evening. So, I’m listening to you for the first time. I’m a Chartered Accountant, Gaurav Vaishnav, from India, and my ambition is to move abroad. However, I’m very new to this research, such as understanding how to move abroad. So, can you please guide me on what the entry point is and how I should start my research for moving abroad in the finance stream?

You are working as a CA, or what are you doing in finance? I’m working in the hedge fund accounting domain. So basically, you are into investment banking? Yes. Which country are you targeting? Europe and the US. The US would be difficult. If you talk about Europe, in your case, I would specifically narrow it down to Germany. The reason being, in your profile, it’s really important that you have the visa first. Of course, somebody coming from a tech profile, whether IT or non-IT, doesn’t matter. People with tech profiles do get hired directly from India into Europe.

So, one option is that you can consider Germany. And why am I saying Germany? Because Germany has the option of the Germany Opportunity Card visa, where you can apply for the visa and start searching for a job. You can start searching for a job from India, and once you get the job, then you can move there and, of course, start working for the employer based on the Blue Card. So, that could be one option. If you’re open to the Middle East as well, you can also look for a job there. You will have very high chances of getting hired in the Middle East as well. So, these are the two possibilities I can see right now.

I'm 55 and I'm into IT. If I look out for myself first, what is the possibility and how can I crack the interview? I'm just wondering what my possibilities are based on my profile and what concerns I should be aware of.

First of all, we discussed your profile and your son's profile. I think 1 or 2 days ago. Yes. And she showed me the CVs as well. I already told her, yes, you have a great possibility. You come from a Power BI side. You are working as a Power BI architect that's a great profile So, you have a very good chance of getting a job. There are two things.

If you want to get a job while you're still in India, age can be a consideration. However, the positive point is that you have a strong technical skill set. So, you should give your job search 3 to 6 months. During this time, you have a good chance of getting hired. That is the one point. If you say, I want to maximize my chances of success. I definitely want to move. Then yes, you should also apply for the Opportunity Card alongside your job search. If you don't want to apply for Opportunity Card Visa, then, simply keep searching. It may take 3, 6, or even 8 months to find the right opportunity.

I have completed a BTech Electronics Communication Engineering in India and MBA from UK. After that, I came back to India and I have around 10+ years of experience in Salesforce admin. If I wanted to start this OC, where do I start and how do I start all the process? And first of all, what are the chances to get the job from India?

You are a Salesforce Developer now? I am actually working as an admin, so I have multiple certification. I have around 8+ certification in Sales and Service. I also part of development. I can say I'm an admin but I never worked as a BA, but I have completed certification. So how do I start and where do I start and what are my opportunities?

You have Engineering degree, you are eligible. You just have to fulfill the funding requirement. If you are able to show roughly 7 lakhs with 5 months of history or 13.5 lakhs with 5 months of history, you get the visa for 6 months or 1 year. If you are able to fulfill that, then you become eligible to apply for OC. So degree is recognized. You have the experience.

You have to apply with proper documentation or with a strong cover letter. Why do you want to apply? How will you search for the job? What is your plan? What are you doing currently to get search for the job? You have to justify these things to the embassy, so you get the visa.

If I choose the OC, what is the procedure? Your diploma must be from the state board. That's one critical requirement. You will have to apply for the recognition of the diploma if it's from the state board. Non-state board diplomas are not accepted.

You need to show the funds, 7 lakhs or 13.5 lakhs, in your bank account or in blocked account. These are the basic requirements. My direct question to you, will you be able to open the blocked account worth 7 lakhs? Can you lock that money in that account? If you have that money of course we can support you, If you don't fulfill the requirement, we can also not support you.

Like Information Technology, Transmission, Electrical power, Solar all that Installation and Testing. We have done various projects. You are 2 people or how is it? 1 people is there. We have done 2-3 country also. I have Myanmar 4 years and Saudi Arabia 2 years and Bangladesh even 3 years. Total international experience I have 10 years and 15 years in India.

With Airtel, Reliance, Jio, Idea, Voda, BSNL government projects we have did. But now I want to move for another Europe, any country or Middle East. So kindly suggest, also my age is now 50 years. So what I understand, you come from a skilled profile, So I assume you are working more into the Installation or Servicing. 

What degree do you have? I have Electronics Engineering in Technical and I got the MBA also. You mean you have the BTech? No, Electronics Engineering Diploma. 2 options. 1 you can try for Middle East. For Germany, you should be applying for OC, then you will have the chances.

German language and candidate should be in German like These things are always plus, I wouldn't deny. Somebody is in Germany gets the advantage over somebody not in Germany.  But I won't say that It's impossible for an FPA professional having Power BI skill set or Tableau skill set or other Analytics Software experience.

Just that you have to put more efforts compared to someone having visa. But without visa is also possible. But like without visa, I just trying to think about LinkedIn and I applied multiple jobs, but I do not get any positive feedback. I have examples for 1 person Financial Reporting, even profile which is in lesser demand than yours. She has attended interviews for 2 different positions at get your guide.

There is a person working in SoundCloud, which is again, a company in Germany working as an FP&A professional there. There are success stories. But it's just that your efforts need to be strategic. You should talk more about tech in your profile. Number crunching has to be there. How well you are able to show that, that is more important. And what do you think that OC will help me in this area? Having OC, don't want to travel, that is still fine. Having OC, that would help 100%.

I have multiple Software experience like Snowflake, Adaptive, multiple IDF. If a 30 to 40 kind of software I used in my whole career. I want to know Analytics related applications. For example Power BI and Power Query, I'm good on that. And in Tableau as well. Tableau and Power BI I can rate myself 10 out of 5. In that case, try to improve your skills into Power BI as well. Snowflake for a Data Engineer or data Analyst, it's in huge demand.

Based on that, I assume that might also be in demand for FP&A professional. But Power BI, I'm confident because I have seen such examples that Power BI, any kind of Financial Analyst, FP&A professional having experience into Power BI or Tableau, they do get calls much faster. So you need to show more of the tech side of you, as a reporting side of you with using those Softwares, then employers are more interested, then you will have the chances to get the job, 100 percent.

Hi Sandeep, I have 14 years of experience in FP&A, in Financial Planning and Analysis. And around in my whole career, I changed around 5 to 6 companies. So what do you think about my profile?

I applied multiple jobs via LinkedIn, for Germany and Netherland, but I got 1 or 2 messages. But most of them, they are saying they are looking for someone who good in German and someone who is in Germany. These are the 2 things I always miss out, and they always reject my resume. But I applied 100 of jobs but I get reply only 1 or 2.

FP&A, is in demand. That is one thing. Employers are interested to hire in that profile. But yes, you need more efforts. Of course, strategic efforts in terms of like, having good CV, good cover letter and then networking is strongly required in your profile, So now coming back to your profile, 1 question I have, any kind of analytics software experience for FP&A?

Hi, Sandeep. I want to tell you about myself. I am a SAP Consultant, SAP BW and SAP SD, sales and distribution and SAP Analytics Cloud. So my age is 47. I have around 15 years of experience. I'm a postgraduate. I have completed my MCA and my university is recognized in ANABIN. It is H plus is showing. It is Bharati Das University in Tamil Nadu. Now, am I eligible for Opportunity Card with the age of 47?

Yes, you are eligible. So if I take which one is feasible? Opportunity Card, CDA or GHA? First of all, if I talk about SAP SD, Analytics Cloud forget about BW. BW is something is not in demand. There are jobs but employers are not hiring into BW area. Having sales and distribution experience we have a very strong history there. SD guys get hired very fast. SD, FICO, Analytics Cloud.

These are the 3 areas where we have a lot of success stories into SAP. From that perspective, yes, your profile is in demand. You don't need the OC. That is one point of view.
