Inaugural Function of the Bridging Course 2026 - 2027
The Inaugural Function of the Bridging Course for the academic year 2026–2027 was organized by Sacred Heart College (Autonomous), Tirupattur, on 01 June 2026 at 8.30 a.m. in Kamarajar Arangam. The programme was conducted to welcome the newly admitted students and to familiarize them with the academic environment, institutional values, and various opportunities available at the college. The programme commenced with a prayer song rendered by Dr. Henston and his team, invoking God's blessings for the successful conduct of the course and the academic journey of the students. The gathering was warmly welcomed by Rev. Dr. G. Theophil Anand SDB, Additional Principal of Sacred Heart College, who encouraged the students to make effective use of the bridging course to develop their communication skills, confidence, and academic preparedness.
The Principal, Rev. Dr. Praveen Peter SDB, delivered the Principal’s Message and highlighted the importance of higher education, discipline, and holistic development. The Chief Guest’s Address was delivered by Rev. Dr. Ignatius Stanley Lawrence SDB, Rector and Secretary of the College. In his inspiring speech, he emphasized the significance of character formation, value-based education, and personal growth. The session on Bridging Course Instructions was presented by Dr. J. Mary Jenif, Head, Department of English (Shift-II). She explained the objectives, schedule, and expected outcomes of the bridging course and provided detailed guidance regarding participation and assessment procedures. Dr. B. Seenivasan, IGNOU Coordinator, addressed the students on the various educational opportunities available through IGNOU and highlighted the benefits of pursuing additional certificate, diploma, and degree programmes.
The Bridging Course for the academic year 2026–2027 is coordinated by Fr. Xavier Raj, who plays a pivotal role in planning and implementing the course activities. The inaugural programme was effectively coordinated by Dr. Shanmugam, whose meticulous planning and organization ensured the smooth conduct of the event. The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks proposed by Dr. S. Savitha, Vice Principal (Academics), who expressed gratitude to the management, dignitaries, faculty members, organizers, and students for their active participation and support. The function ended with the College Anthem, fostering a sense of unity and belonging among the newly admitted students.

International Women`s Day Celebration - 2026 By Department of Extension Education and Services (DEEDS)
Department of Extension Education and Services (DEEDS), Sacred Heart College (Autonomous), Tirupattur organized the International Women’s Day Celebration on 7th March 2026 at 11.00 AM in Carreno Hall. The programme was conducted to honour the contributions of women and to promote empowerment initiatives for women, especially members of Self Help Groups (SHGs). The programme began with a prayer song by Bro. Firmin and team, invoking blessings for the success of the celebration. Ms. K. Tharageswari, Family Counselor, warmly welcomed the gathering and highlighted the importance of recognizing women’s achievements and supporting their socio-economic development.

The Chief Guest was honoured by Rev. Dr. Shanmugam SDB, Director – DEEDS, Sacred Heart College, Tirupattur. Cultural performances added vibrancy to the programme, with dance performances by Ms. Jansi and team from the Department of Commerce, followed by Ms. Pooja, Rasika and team, Mr. Vikash, Raj and team and Robin, Manova and team. The Guest of Honour Message was delivered by Mr. Wilson Anandaraj, General Manager – Competence, Tata Elxsi, Chennai. who spoke about the importance of women’s empowerment, education, and financial independence in building a progressive society.
The Chief Guest Address was delivered by Mr. S. S. Manian, Advocate, Tirupattur, who emphasized the need for legal awareness among women and encouraged them to make use of available financial and legal support systems.

A significant highlight of the programme was the distribution of loans to Self Help Groups (SHGs). During the Women’s Day celebration, a total loan amount of Rs. 73,30,000 was disbursed to SHG members, enabling them to strengthen their livelihoods and promote economic self-reliance.

The programme was also graced by several distinguished Guests of Honour, including Mr. Gurupatham, Manager – NABFINS Ltd., Mr. Dineshkumar, Microsite Manager, Indian Bank, Tirupattur and Mr. Krishnakumar, Manager, Indian Bank, Jolarpet, who appreciated the efforts of DEEDS in empowering rural women through financial inclusion and SHG activities. The Vote of Thanks was proposed by Mr. K. Karunakaran, SHG Coordinator, expressing gratitude to the chief guest, guests of honour, organizers, and participants for making the event successful. Gifts were also distributed to SHG members as a token of encouragement by Rev. Dr. Shanmugam SDB. The programme concluded with the National Anthem. The event was efficiently anchored by Ms. S. Kavitha, SHG Staff, who served as the Master of Ceremony.

Report on Awareness Programme titled “My Vote is Not for Sale”
Sacred Heart College (Autonomous), in collaboration with Arapor Iyakkam, organized a Student Awareness Program titled “My Vote is Not for Sale” on 28th February 2026 at 10.00 a.m. in the Kamarajar Auditorium. The program aimed to create awareness among students about the importance of ethical voting and responsible citizenship. The event began with a prayer song followed by a warm welcome address delivered by Rev. Dr. Shanmugam, who highlighted the significance of youth participation in strengthening democracy. He emphasized that voting is not merely a right but a moral responsibility of every citizen.

Mr. Radha Krishnan, State President, delivered the keynote address on the theme “My Vote is Not for Sale.” In his powerful speech, he urged students to uphold integrity and reject any form of bribery or inducement during elections. He explained how vote buying undermines democracy and weakens the nation’s progress. Mr. Joy George, Coordinator of Arapor Iyakkam, also addressed the gathering and shared practical insights on building a corruption-free society. Rev. Dr. Praveen Peter, Rector and Secretary, delivered the felicitation address and appreciated the collaborative initiative taken to educate young voters. Rev. Dr. Maria Antonyraj, Principal, motivated the students to stand firm in their values and make informed electoral choices. Rev. Dr. Theophil Anand also felicitated the gathering and stressed the importance of social responsibility among youth. The speakers collectively emphasized that a single vote can shape the future of the nation. The session concluded with a vote of thanks, leaving the students inspired to uphold democratic values.

Report on IVDP - SHC Contributive Scholarship Distribution Day Shift-II
IVDP–SHC Contributive Scholarship Distribution Day was organized by Sacred Heart College (Autonomous), Tirupattur, at Kamarajar Arangam on 4th March 2026 at 3.00 p.m. under Shift–II. The programme was conducted to extend financial assistance to orphans, semi-orphans, and economically disadvantaged students through the collaborative initiative of IVDP and Sacred Heart College. The event was graced by the Chief Guest, Raman Magsaysay Awardee Mr. Kulandai Francis, Founder–President of IVDP, Krishnagiri. The programme commenced with a prayer song by Mr. Henston & Co., Department of English, invoking divine blessings. Ms. Barghavi R., II M.Sc Chemistry, delivered the welcome address and greeted the dignitaries, faculty members, students, and parents.
Rev. Dr. G. Theophil Anand SDB, Additional Principal, delivered a motivating message emphasizing the transformative power of education and the importance of compassion in building an inclusive society. He appreciated the generous support of IVDP and highlighted the college’s continued commitment to ensuring that no student discontinues education due to financial constraints. Rev. Dr. Maria Antonyraj, Principal of Sacred Heart College, felicitated the Chief Guest and acknowledged his dedicated service to rural development. Rev. Dr. Shanmugam SDB, Vice-Principal (Admin), presented the IVDP report, outlining the objectives and impact of the contributive scholarship scheme. Ms. Sridevi S., I M.A English, introduced the Chief Guest and shared his inspiring journey of Mr. Kulandai Francis.
In his address, Mr. Kulandai Francis encouraged students to pursue education with determination and to become responsible citizens who contribute to society. He appreciated the partnership between IVDP and SHC in supporting deserving students. The scholarship distribution ceremony was carried out, followed by the recognition of top contributors who supported the initiative. Parents expressed their gratitude during the feedback session, acknowledging the timely financial support. Ms. Salma, III B.Sc Chemistry, proposed the vote of thanks, expressing appreciation to all who made the programme successful. The event concluded with the College Anthem, fostering unity and institutional pride. The programme was efficiently compered by Ms. Harshini B., III B.Sc Computer Science, and Mr. Velmurugan, I B.A Tamil. The entire event was coordinated by Rev.Dr. Shanmugam, Vice-Principal(Admin) & IVDP-SHC contributive scholarship coordinator.
