Sankranthi is a festival day in the Hindu calendar, dedicated to the deity Lord Surya.. Sankranthi is one of the ancient Indian festivals that has been observed according to Solar cycles. Sankranthi is celebrated with colourful decorations, rural children going house to house, singing and asking for treat in some areas (or pocket money), dance, kite flying, bonfire & feast. Sankranthi is very suspicious day in Hindu custom. Through out India, people celebrate this festival with great enthusiasm and fervour.
