“Did you have fun?” 🎡

It’s the go-to question we often ask kids after school, birthday parties, sometimes before they’ve even taken off their shoes. 👟

But here’s the thing:
This question is leading, and kids quickly learn that a cheerful “yes” makes adults happy. Over time, they might start linking fun with approval and safety—and that can create unrealistic expectations about what daily life should feel like. ⚖️

Of course, we want our kids to be happy. But we don’t want them constantly chasing “fun” as the only measure of a good experience. 🌀

And no—you’re not a bad parent for asking. You're human. ❤️
But if you're looking to build stronger connections and encourage deeper thinking, try asking S.O.C.K. questions instead:

S – Specific
O – Open-minded
C – Creative
K – Kid-friendly

Let’s move from surface-level chats to meaningful conversations that help kids grow emotionally and mentally. 💬🧠

3 Simple Steps to Calm a Tantrum

During tantrums, meltdowns, or moments of frustration, helping your child recover quickly is crucial. Since words are easier to interpret than tears, try the S.E.E method instead of leaving your kid in a tantrum.

S - SOOTHE: Calm your child's emotions.

E - EMPATHIZE: Understand and acknowledge their feelings.

E - ENGAGE: Redirect their attention to a positive activity.
