According to the UGC Chairman M. Jagadesh Kumar, the application process for the CUET-UG would start in the first week of February 2023 and the exam will scheduled on May 21-31, 2023.
The number of subjects and pattern of question papers will remain the same. A candidate can take as many as 6 domain subjects in addition to one or two languages and the General Test. The test would be conducted in the following languages— Assamese, Bengali, English, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu.

What is CUET (UG)?

The Common University Entrance Test (CUET) is being introduced for admission into all UG Programmes in all Central Universities for academic session 2022-23 under the Ministry of Education, (MoE). The Common University Entrance Test (CUET) will provide a common platform and equal opportunities to candidates across the country, especially those from rural and other remote areas and help establish better connect with the Universities. A single Examination will enable the Candidates to cover a wide outreach and be part of the admissions process to 44 Central Universities, 12 State universities, 13 deemed Universities and 21 private universities.

The choice of Tests/Subjects in CUET would depend on the course/s opted by the candidate and the University/ies where admission is sought, which is entirely different from JEE Main/Advanced or NEET. In 2022, with 14.9 lakh registrations, the CUET, the common gateway for undergraduate admissions in all Central universities, is now the second biggest entrance exam in the country, surpassing JEE-Main's average registration of nine lakh. NEET-UG is the biggest entrance test in India with an average of 18 lakh registrations.

CUET (UG) Features

Mode of Examination:
CUET (UG) – 2023 will be conducted in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode.

Pattern of Question Paper:
Objective type Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs)

Tests Design:
There are three Sections in the design of the test:

It is not mandatory to choose any one or more of the Tests/Subjects stated above.

A Candidate can take maximum of 09 Tests in following manner:

• Maximum of 02 languages from Section IA and Section IB taken together, maximum of 06 Domain Subjects from Section II and General Test from Section III.
or
• Maximum of 03 languages from Section IA and Section IB taken together, maximum of 05 Domain Subjects from Section II and General Test from Section III.

For choosing Languages, domain specific Subjects and General Test the Candidate MUST refer to requirements of his/her intended University as choices should match the requirements of the University.

Examination Scheme:
Examination will be conducted on multiple days in two slots per day as given below:

Eligibility:

For appearing in the CUET (UG) - 2023, there is no age limit for the candidates. The candidates who have passed the class 12th /equivalent examination or are appearing in 2023 irrespective of their age can appear in CUET (UG) - 2023 examination. However, the candidates will be required to fulfill the age criteria (if any) of the University (ies) in which they are desirous of taking admission.
Reservations:

Indian nationals belonging to certain categories are admitted under the seats reserved for them in accordance with the rules prescribed by the Government of India. (27% OBC, 15% SC, 7.5% ST, 10% EWS and 5% PwD)

CUET Masters’ Pre-counselling for CUET (UG)

While applying to CUET (UG) we assist you to
(a) Identify the required Test/Subjects for appearing in CUET (UG) – 2023 for getting admission in the desired university. This should be noted down for all University/ Universities and Courses where you intend to take admission.

(b) Select the required Test/Subjects for appearing in CUET (UG) – 2023 from the following:

Section IA - 13 Languages
Section IB - 20 Languages
Section II - 27 Domain Specific Subjects
Section III - General Test

(The maximum number of tests to be taken remains 9 only i.e. 2 Languages+6 Domain Specific Subjects+1 General Test OR 3 Languages+5 Domain Specific Subjects+1 General Test)
As different subject combinations are required for different Courses/Universities, a pre-counselling activity is required before applying to CUET (UG), which is entirely different from JEE Main/Advanced and NEET.

The Common University Entrance Test (CUET) would provide a common platform and equal possibilities to candidates from all across the country, particularly those from rural and other remote locations, and will aid in the development of greater connections with universities. Candidates would be able to cover a wide expanse and be a part of the admissions process to numerous Central Universities by taking a single examination.
