The NSS Unit of Saranathan College of Engineering conducted a day-long programme on Disaster Management on the college campus on 31-01-2026.. Mr. R. Suresh and his team comprising of Mr. Kalaimani Manikandan, Mr. Prakash raj, Ms. Preethika from the Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organization were the Chief Guest of the programme. During the session, students received hands-on training in various disaster response techniques, including rope knots such as Reef Knot, Single Sheet Bend Knot, Double Sheet Bend Knot, Clove Hitch Knot, Bowline Knot, Fireman’s Chair Knot, and Draw Hitch Knot. The programme also covered casualty evacuation procedures and demonstrated various rescue methods, equipping students with essential skills for effective disaster response.

NSS Unit of Saranathan College of Engineering conducted an awareness programme through virtual mode on 21st December 2025.
Emphasizing “Free from stray dogs” is a campaign that's started to make people aware of dog bites and allied medical ailments, the meet had drawn students in the NSS unit and was open to other participants.
The meet was conducted bilingual in order to reach the audience in an easier way. The detailing spanned over 50 minutes from 10:00 AM.
The programme focused on creating awareness on dog attack cases in India and methods to protect ourselves from dog bites and deaths, simultaneously promoting “Animal welfare together with public health wellness.
Starting from the mentions of cases all over India and Supreme Court intervention, the Constitutional laws reinforcements were detailed.
People's lack of awareness on vaccination shot schedules, medical professionals’ interviews and articles fetched from legit newspapers were displayed to provide the audience with evidences and the reason for the high death toll due to dog attacks in India.
Four methods of self- protection were classified and displayed to the audience.
Dos and don'ts during dog encounters were explained including first aid awareness.
At last, responsible dog ownership laws, rules were taught to raise healthy dogs ensuring people's safety.
After deep explanation, feedback from the participants was collected. The comments were positive and the gravity of the topic was well received by them.
