“You know how a ship looks huge when it's standing on a dockyard? But when it's out in the sea, it is just a tiny speck in the vast blue ocean. That's exactly how I felt when I went on my exchange trip. A tiny speck in this ginormous world full of different cultures, people, ideologies, lives.

Nothing can beat listening to a stranger’s story at 4 a.m. on the streets of Amsterdam, or getting lost on your way to Barcelona and then drinking some Anis in a remote town, or street-food hopping with a Mexican friend in Bratislava, or climbing Harder Kulm in Switzerland with a couple in their fifties and being left behind….

It started with a bucket list of countries but I ended up making beautiful memories, ones I will cherish for a lifetime.” -

“Real Madrid was one of the first football clubs I‘d heard of. The most successful club in European history and the Club of the Century. But it was when my favourite footballers David Beckham and later Cristiano Ronaldo, donned the famous white, I turned a supporter from a follower. And that’s how Santiago Bernabéu became my ‘dhaam’ of Football.

In Madrid, as soon as I reached the magnificent venue, I saw the daunting structure and could not believe I was about to live my childhood dream. I gave my brother and friends a virtual tour so we could all experience this moment together. I finally had the goosebump-inducing moment of singing Hala Madrid anthem before kick off. Watching Zizou on the touch line, and Ramos, Kroos and Modric grace the pitch without a TV screen in between felt surreal. At the final whistle, I roamed every possible corner of the stadium and didn’t leave until being asked by the guards themselves. As I exited the gates, I turned towards the Real Madrid crest with a sigh of happiness. And this is how I lived my dream.” -

“Honestly, this exchange isn’t an experience that can easily be put into words. Studying in a university with professors and students from all over the world was extremely enriching. Apart from my poor attempts at trying to pick up a bit of French, the local cuisines, the stunning scenery, the running behind trains, the fellow exchange students, and the locals I met in various places made my exchange semester very memorable. The best two experiences for me personally were skydiving, and a visit to the Anne Frank House - both gave me goosebumps but for very different reasons.

"Going on student exchange was one of the best decisions I made while pursuing my MBA at IIM Trichy. During my course at Aix Marseille University-IAE, France, I got the opportunity to work on projects with students from more than six different countries. This not only propelled me towards understanding different cultures but also enhanced my interest in global issues.
This program also gave me some of the most adventurous and exciting experiences of my life - from skydiving in Portugal to watching Messi playing in Camp Nou to experiencing -17° in Switzerland. I truly enjoyed my 3-month stay in Europe." - Nishant Lowanshi

Vatsal Doshi, from IIM Trichy was chosen by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India for the 5th BRICS Youth Summit held in Brazilia, Brazil from 17th to 20th October. A 15-member delegation comprising of young professionals, students, scholars, athletes and artists visited Brazil to meet the youth of other partner nations in order to draft policies surrounding the key issues that the youth of each of the five nations are currently facing.

Representing India, Vatsal made a presentation on the theme 'Social Ascension of Youth through Entrepreneurship and Job Creation'. His recommendation was to create a platform that offered a gateway to market access, funding and skill development. This way young minds would have the abilities and tools to create the future that they desire.

There were also discussions on the matter of free visa for Indians travelling to Brazil, which has been granted recently.
