Every single flower makes the garden beautiful. Every single child of our Vidyalaya is sure to make the country vibrant. Mahatma Gandhi Centenary Vidyalaya was founded in 1969, by a group of public- spirited men led by Vidya Seva Ratnam Sri. It was named Mahatma Gandhi Centenary Vidyalaya as it was founded in the Birth Centenary year of our Father Mahatma Gandhi on 3rd August 1969. Santhanam and his proper husbandry of resources that the present school at 35, Tennur High Road, was acquired in 1978. MGCV is a co-educational institution affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education. Classes are conducted from the pre-primary level up to X standard. The student strength is around 1500 and there are about 70 teachers in this school. The teacher pupil ratio is 1:1.5. The school has excellent learning atmosphere as the infrastructure is up to the mark. With a perfect blend of traditional values and modern teaching methods like the smart class, this school has ideal classrooms, an auditorium, a well – maintained Library and Laboratories for subjects like Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Computer Science. The Computer lab has 21 terminals with multimedia connectivity. Students are taught how to operate computer from class III. A fleet of vans ply for the transport of students from specified locations in the town. It has been rendering its yeoman service to the population of Tennur and the surrounding areas. In the year 2019 it marked its 50th significant golden jubilee year since its foundation. There is much to celebrate with gratitude and give credit for the successful administration and financial management of the school to its Founder Secretary Sri. It is a golden opportunity for the MGCVians to remember, reminisce and be filled with pride and honour for their accomplishments and achievements. LOOKING AHEAD
Little could the Founders have dreamt that the tiny seedling that they planted half a century ago would grow so big and become a byword for Quality and Excellence. The School owes all its improvement over the years entirely to its Founder Secretary Vidya Seva Ratnam Sri K. Santhanam, B.Com, F.C.A. a leading Chartered Accountant of the town who incidentally till his demise was also the Secretary of the now 126 year old educational agency namely the National College Council. The present team of office bearers, administering the institution very much in the same lines as the Founder Secretary, consists of Prof V.Natarajan, Former Principal of National College, Trichy, as President, Sri S. Ravindran, B.Com as Secretary and Madam Uma Ravindran M.A., as Correspondent. Under their able administration, the school bids fair to rise to greater heights of glory and is marching gaily towards its Golden Jubilee in 2019. The specialties of the Institution:

The strong emphasis on using English as the medium of communication in the School. Free and compulsory coaching classes in all subjects on Saturday for 9th and 10th standard students.
