Congratulations to Joshin K Jacob for his exemplary thesis qualifying into the top 30 finalists for the 9th edition of the INSPIRELI Awards!
Joshin’s thesis, ‘Multimodal Transit Hub, Kakkanad’ tackles the critical need for efficient transportation systems in urban development, emphasizing the importance of integrating various modes of transportation such as trains, roads, waterways, and air travel.
This is achieved by designing a a multimodal transit hub at Kakkanad, the IT corridor of Kochi. Key components include Kochi Metro Rail, Silverline (a high-speed train system), Kochi Water Metro, and feeder services connecting the airport to major towns.
The INSPIRELI AWARDS is one of the largest worldwide competition for students of architecture. This year, the competition attracted an impressive 1,174 projects from 1,270 participants across 87 countries. From this substantial pool, 30 finalists emerged in the Architecture category, representing 20 countries, including only 2 from India. Additionally, there are 6 finalists in Urban Design and 5 in Interior Design.

A part of the thesis project titled - "Infrastructure as Public Space" by Harikrishnan.A (2013 - 2018 batch B. Arch, School of Architecture and Planning, Government Engineering College, Thrissur) will be featured in the India Pavilion at the London Design Biennale 2021.

The exhibition Small is Beautiful: A Billion Ideas at the India Pavilion will showcase 200 stories of innovations across 5 major categories namely - Air, Water, Forest, Earth and Energy. These ideas of change aim to set a benchmark for India to adopt a path of sustainability to achieve clean resources.
