NSS UNIT209 of Nehru College of Engineering and Research Centre, Pampady conducted “Sasneham Oru Oonu” on 30 July 2026 under the flagship program KTU CARE . As part of this initiative, NSS volunteers prepared food from home and distributed around 30 food packets to the inmates of Pampady Old Age Home and also extended the service to the surrounding areas by providing food to those in need.

The NSS Unit 209 of Nehru College of Engineering and Research Centre (NCERC), Pampady, proudly secured Second Prize in the State-Level Plastic Waste Collection Challenge 2026, under the Swachhata Hi Seva Programme, conducted by the Regional Directorate, NSS, in association with the Mahatma Gandhi University NSS Cell. The unit achieved 2nd position among engineering colleges across Kerala, recognizing its outstanding efforts in plastic waste collection and environmental conservation.

This remarkable achievement reflects the dedication, teamwork, and commitment of the NSS volunteers towards promoting sustainable waste management practices and protecting the environment. The award serves as an inspiration for students to continue working towards a cleaner, greener, and plastic-free society.

The NSS Unit 209 of Nehru College of Engineering and Research Centre (NCERC), Pampady, conducted the “Sowing a Greener Planet” plantation initiative under the NRPF SAP Programme during July 2026. The programme aimed to promote environmental awareness and encourage tree plantation among NSS volunteers.

As part of the initiative, volunteers planted saplings in their homes and surroundings, contributing to a greener and healthier environment. The programme inspired students to adopt eco-friendly practices and reaffirmed their commitment to environmental conservation.

NSS UNIT 209 NCERC PAMPADY

The NSS Unit 209 of Nehru College of Engineering and Research Centre (NCERC), Pampady, successfully conducted an “Introduction to NSS” programme on 26 July to introduce first-year students to the National Service Scheme and its mission of developing social responsibility, leadership, and a spirit of community service.

The programme featured interactive sessions led by the NSS Programme Officers and Senior Volunteers who introduced the students to the objectives, activities, and opportunities offered through NSS. They explained the motto “Not Me But You” and encouraged students to actively participate in community service, environmental conservation, health awareness campaigns, and other social welfare initiatives.
The programme concluded with an interactive discussion and a vote of thanks. It successfully inspired the participants to become active NSS volunteers and work towards building a socially responsible, compassionate, and service-oriented community.

The National Service Scheme (NSS) Volunteer Secretary Workshop 2026–2027 for the Thrissur–Palakkad & North Region was held at Nehru College of Engineering and Research Centre (NCERC), Pampady on 26 july 2026. The day began with an energetic morning warm-up session, refreshing and motivating the participants for day's activities.The workshop featured a series of informative sessions aimed at developing the leadership and organizational skills of newly selected Volunteer Secretaries.
The sessions were handled by Smt. Anjana G., who spoke on positive thinking Dr. Arun M., who discussed unit management Prof. Reena Abraham, who introduced the NSS Portal and Prof. Ratheesh S., who explained the new NSS Portal and flagship activities. A special session by Adhil Nasar, Kannur–Kasaragod District Coordinator and Energy Cell State Coordinator, Trikaripur Engineering College, provided his valuable insights.

The workshop concluded with a valedictory function, leaving the participants better equipped to carry out their responsibilities as Volunteer Secretaries during the 2026–2027 academic year.

"Nature is not a place to visit; it is our home. Protecting it today ensures a greener tomorrow."

In connection with World Nature Conservation Day observed on 28th July, NSS UNIT 209, NCERC Pampady, organized an environmental awareness and cleanliness initiative to promote the importance of conserving nature.

As part of the programme, volunteers prepared a poster based on the theme "Nature Conservation" to spread awareness about protecting natural resources, reducing pollution, and adopting eco-friendly practices. They also collected plastic waste and scrap materials from the surroundings, contributing towards a cleaner and healthier environment. The initiative encouraged everyone to take responsibility for preserving nature through simple yet impactful actions.
