Advocate Maya K. G., an Education Consultant, discusses the significant change in the CBSE question paper pattern following the COVID-19 period. During the pandemic, CBSE briefly shifted to an exam format that predominantly featured Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) with four options. To ensure the papers remained challenging despite the options, the questions were designed to be heavily application-based and twisted, requiring students to think, work out, and apply concepts. Even after the board removed the MCQ format, this higher standard of application-based, real-time, and competency-focused questions was retained and continues to increase in number in all subsequent question papers. This shift makes the questions more challenging for students.
