Legacy. Leadership. Learning. đź‘‘
The leadership visit of T-IIM students to the iconic Kuthiramalika Palace Thiruvananthapuram was more than a heritage walk—it was an immersive journey into timeless governance, culture, and visionary leadership.
Built in the 1840s by Maharaja Swathi Thirunal Rama Varma, this architectural masterpiece stands as a symbol of strategic thinking, artistic excellence, and administrative brilliance. With 122 intricately carved wooden horses, 80 uniquely designed rooms, and a system of natural cooling using indigenous materials, the palace reflects a deep integration of design, sustainability, and functionality—principles that resonate strongly with modern management practices.
For T-IIM MBA learners, this visit translated heritage into management insights:
• Structure & Systems Thinking: The palace layout—with distinct functional spaces like audience chambers, libraries, and decision-making halls—mirrors structured governance and organizational clarity.
• Leadership & Administration: The Travancore rulers demonstrated responsive and visionary leadership, balancing culture, economy, and societal welfare—an enduring lesson in ethical leadership.
• Innovation with Tradition: From acoustic engineering using clay pots to climate-responsive flooring, the palace showcases how innovation thrives within cultural roots.
• Resilience & Crisis Management: The legacy of the Travancore kingdom reflects adaptability, strategic foresight, and continuity—qualities essential for future business leaders.
The presence of
đź‘‘ HH Avittam Thirunal Adithya Varma, Prince Travancore Royal Family added a distinguished royal and academic dimension to the experience.
At T-IIM, we believe that true management education goes beyond classrooms—it connects students with legacy, culture, and lived leadership. By learning from the past, we prepare our students to lead the future with wisdom, responsibility, and vision.
From royal corridors to corporate boardrooms—T-IIM shapes leaders who carry legacy forward. ❤️ 🌴
