Most people wait for change. Malati Murmu picked up a piece of chalk—and became that change.
When Malati moved to Jilingsereng, a remote tribal village in West Bengal, after her marriage in 2019, she found a place with no proper roads, no transport, and barely any teachers. Children weren’t skipping school out of disinterest—it was survival that kept them away.
“I saw kids missing out on education because of poverty and lack of guidance, so I started teaching them at home,” Malati shared with Sangbad Pratidin.
From a mud-walled house with a tin roof, she created something the system had failed to deliver—a free school, open to every child eager to learn.
Since February 2020, around 45 children gather at her doorstep each morning, their books clutched with hope. To them, she isn’t just a teacher, she’s Didimani—guiding them with patience, discipline, and love.
With the support of her husband and villagers, Malati has built far more than a classroom. She has built a lifeline for the future of her community.

What do you do when the world tells you your dream is “too big”?
In Vidarbha, a young girl chose not to answer with words—but with determination.
Meet Adiba Anam, daughter of an auto-rickshaw driver, who has made history as Maharashtra’s first Muslim woman IAS officer, securing AIR 142 in UPSC.
Her father, Ashfaq Sheikh, never got the chance to finish school. But he gave his daughter the one thing he never had—opportunity. And Adiba made the most of it, scoring 98% in Class 10 and 97% in Class 12.
By the time she finished school, she had already decided: the civil services were her calling. She moved to Pune, pursued Mathematics, and began her preparation. The road was tough—twice, she faced failure, including once at the interview stage. But each setback only made her stronger.
“In our community, girls often don’t get to study,” she said. “My father told me to shut out the noise and keep my eyes on the goal.”
And today, she stands tall—not just as an achiever, but as an inspiration for every girl told she’s “not enough.” Her mission: to uplift education and healthcare for those who need it most.
Adiba’s story proves that no dream is too big—only courage too small.
