The passage connects two powerful ideas: the evolution of human consciousness and the transformative impact of encounters with the unknown. Richard Maurice Bucke proposed that humanity evolves through stages:
simple consciousness (animal awareness),
self-consciousness (human reflective awareness),
and eventually cosmic consciousness — a heightened state of unity, expanded perception, and profound insight.
According to Bucke, this future stage would not remain limited to mystics or rare visionaries, but could eventually become a normal condition for humanity.
Jon Klimo extends this idea into the realm of UFO/UAP and non-human intelligence encounters. He suggests that people reporting contact experiences often emerge psychologically and spiritually altered. Their experiences can disrupt ordinary assumptions about reality and produce lasting shifts in awareness, identity, perception, and meaning.
Common themes reported by experiencers include:
heightened intuition or synchronicity,
altered perception of time and reality,
feelings of interconnectedness, spiritual awakening, reduced fear of death, increased ecological or cosmic awareness, and difficulty reintegrating into ordinary social reality.
The idea is not necessarily that every encounter is “literally extraterrestrial” in a conventional sci-fi sense, but that such encounters may act as catalysts for expanded consciousness — experiences that force the mind beyond its previous conceptual boundaries.
This overlaps with themes explored by thinkers such as:
Carl Jung (collective unconscious and archetypes),
Terence McKenna (hyperdimensional consciousness),
Jeffrey J. Kripal (the “third realm” between objective and subjective reality), and Jacques Vallée, who viewed UFO phenomena as deeply linked with human consciousness and mythic structures.
Etheric ships/ etheric dimension
This page is about the study of cosmic consciousness which connects US with Non corporeal beings.
What Jeffrey J. Kripal is pointing toward is a challenge to the modern division between “mind” and “matter.” In his interpretation, the UFO phenomenon behaves neither like a purely external object nor like a purely internal hallucination. Instead, it occupies what he sometimes describes as an “imaginal” or “third” space — a domain where consciousness and reality interact in ways that destabilize ordinary categories.
This perspective resonates with ideas from several thinkers associated with anomalous studies:
Jacques Vallée argued that UFOs act more like a control system affecting human belief, culture, and consciousness than simple extraterrestrial spacecraft.
John E. Mack observed that experiencers often reported events that were psychologically transformative yet carried a strange physical consistency.
Carl Jung interpreted UFO imagery partly as archetypal manifestations emerging from the collective psyche during periods of civilizational stress.
Terence McKenna described encounters with altered states as simultaneously visionary and hyper-real, collapsing the distinction between imagination and external reality.
Kripal’s “third realm” idea suggests that these encounters may be co-created phenomena. The experiencer is not simply inventing them, but neither are they encountering a conventional object like a car or airplane. Instead, the phenomenon appears participatory — responsive to consciousness while retaining an autonomy of its own.
That is why UFO reports often contain paradoxes:
physical traces alongside dreamlike symbolism,
technological imagery mixed with spiritual revelation,
encounters that feel more “real than real,” yet resist conventional proof.
In this framework, the question shifts from:
“Are UFOs objectively real?”
to something more radical:
“What kind of reality allows consciousness and matter to interpenetrate?”
The universality of these experiences across cultures and eras is important to Kripal’s argument. Ancient visions of angels, devas, faeries, spirits, and modern alien encounters may represent culturally filtered expressions of the same underlying phenomenon — an intelligence or dimension interacting with humanity through symbols the psyche can partially comprehend.
This does not necessarily deny physical reality. Rather, it proposes that reality itself may be layered, participatory, and far stranger than the classical materialist worldview assumes.
Terrence McKenna explained that "nothing can prepare us for its crackling, electronic, hyperdimensional, interstellar, extraterrestrial, science-fiction quality. It is a complex space filled with highly polished curved surfaces, malleable machines undergoing geometric transformations, and thoughts that condense as visible objects." He adds that the UFO somehow "evokes a strangely mechanistic but at the same time spiritual Future." Their world is difficult for us to begin to comprehend or even to describe due to the limitations of language itself. It is hardly Surprising then that the gods now encountered are often decked out in the trappings of science fiction. Extraterrestrial themes are a firmly established motif of our evolving mythos. The UFO contact is now seen by many investigators to be an intertace between inner and Outer dimensions, analogous to a kind of involuntary shamanic encounter.
Dr. John E. Mack - Transformative Human Experiences
it’s not about UFOs. It’s about who we are. Are we in relationship beyond ourselves a cosmic level. Do we connect in the universe beyond the arrogance that treats the planet as if it belongs to us. What we came to realize is, that we lack what might be called a science of human experience.
There is not a rigorous understanding of what kinds of methodology, what kind of approaches are needed to look at the whole range of human experiences which has to do with encounters with other dimensions, beings of other dimensions or with when people have an opening to the divine through a near death experience or experienced past lives.
How do we study? What happens in science often is, if you can’t prove it by the methods of material science, it doesn’t exist. A vast part of the human being in the world is simply not open to the scientific or the knowledge conversation.
In recent years the center has become very involved with looking at anomalous human experiences and what do they have in common and what do they have to do with our original purpose or social transformation.
Well what we’re finding through a number of projects, is that they have to do, each of them, with identity - who we are. UFO encounter is the rapid one. One of the most powerful transformational experiences for those who have those encounters, but it’s not the only way. There are many, many routes to transformation. This (the UFO encounters) has been one of them. We began to look at what happens to those individuals, for example : they become deeply involved in caring for the Earth, if they work through the terror of those experiences. Or, they become appalled with how we relate to one another, or they become open spiritually. There are many ways that people open.i This is a very powerful way.. #
Because the phenomenon fits none of the usual categories… UFOs cannot be analyzed through the standard research techniques… All we can do is trace their effects on humans…. We are dealing with a yet unrecognized level of consciousness, independent of man but closely linked to the earth.
Dr. Jacques Vallee
“What if UFOs are not extraterrestrial… but extra-dimensional?”
For decades, we tried to study them like machines.
But what if we were asking the wrong questions?
🧠 A phenomenon linked to consciousness

This is not science fiction…
This is a shift in perception.
Lokas and Talas which clearly mentioned in Vedas , Also the terms Lokas and talas mentioned in FBI declassified documents. Link given below . Page 22.

Declassified FBI Document Speaks Of “Inter-Dimensional” Beings. There have been many declassified FBI documents relating to UFO activity, and at least one refers to “beings” from another dimension to ours. The region from which they come is not the “astral plane”, but corresponds to the Lokas or Talas. Students of esoteric matters will understand these terms.
Part of the disks carry crews, others are under remote control.Their mission is peaceful. The visitors contemplate settling on this plane. These visitors are human-like but much larger in size. They are not excarnate Earth people but come from their own world. They do NOT come from a planet as we use the word, but from an etheric planet which interpenetrates with our own and is not perceptible to us.The bodies of the visitors, and the craft, automatically materialize on entering the vibratory rate of our dense matter. The disks posses a type of radiant energy or a ray, which will easily disintegrate any attacking ship. They reenter the etheric at will, and so simply disappear from our vision, without a trace. The region from which they come is not the “astral plane”, but corresponds to the Lokas or Talas. Students of esoteric matters will understand these terms. They probably cannot be reached by radio, but probably can be by radar. if a signal system can be devised for that apparatus.
“You can’t get there from here without a shift in our world-view—a world-view that contains a ‘we’re here and you’re there’ sense of separateness in which the physical world is all that exists. . . . In other words, you can’t deal with something such as the [alien] abduction phenomenon that is so shattering to our literalist, materialist world-view and then try to understand it from a literalist, materialist world-view!
As I have explored the abduction phenomenon, it has become increasingly clear that virtually none of its elements can be appreciated without a consideration of the extraordinary energies involved. These include light or heat from UFOs themselves or transport to them, the means by which UFOs move and the powerful vibratory sensations experienced by the abductees. . . . Experiencers report various forms of interference with appliances in their vicinity (I have seen this frequently myself), whether or not an abduction experience is taking place, as if they were themselves emanating some sort of strange energy.
Dr John E. Mack.
Life exists throughout infinite space. But he felt that it was less "literal" and "nuts & bolts" than Ufologists believed. That it was more of a mental, spiritual, and interdimensional phenomena. He meant that "we do not open up our minds to those whose minds are far more vast and open than our own." He explained that the interstellar dynamic requires the interdimensional dynamic. To deal with the bending of space-time, we must "bend" our minds. He echoed Arthur C. Clark that their technology to us would be indistinguishable from magic. We are not yet prepared to enter the world where the physical and the paraphysical intermingle. Until we change our very minds, we cannot go to a such a malleable place where Space, Time, and the very structure of Matter are manipulated. It is not a physical limitation, he added. It was a limitation of consciousness. ET works beyond our framework of reference.
Dr. Timothy Francis Leary .Harvard University @
The visitor experience may be our first true quantum discovery in the large-scale world. The very act of observing it may be creating it as a concrete actuality, with sense, definition, and a consciousness of its own. And perhaps, in their world, the visitors are working as hard to create us. Truly, such an act of mutual insight and courage would be communion. . . . Who knows, maybe really skilled observation and genuine insight will cause the visitors to come bursting to the surface shaking like coelacanths in a net.
