Capt. C. P. Krishnan Nair, Founder Chairman of The Leela Palaces Hotels and Resorts, passed away peacefully at the age of 92, following a brief illness.

A freedom fighter and an officer of the Indian army who later built the luxury hotel chain, Capt. Chittarath Poovakkatt Krishnan Nair is a Padma Bhushan awardee.

Six students of the Institute of Hotel Management and Catering Technology, Kovalam were hospitalised after they complained of vomiting and giddiness. The police said they were admitted to a private hospital at Ambalathara. Their condition was stated to be stable.
