Shantal School, Malamukal was opened in June 2000 as a continuation of St. Shantal School at Kowdiar. Jane Francis de Chantal is the patroness of the school. It got affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) in 2001. The School is owned and managed by the sisters, Daughters of St. Francis de Sales (DSFS). There is an atmosphere of friendship, understanding, care and support that
pervades in the school community of parents, pupils and educators. We consider the formation of character the first essential of any sound educational system and so great stress is laid on the inculcation of high ideals, courteous behaviour and moral rectitude. Great importance is attached to a varied programme of activities outside the ordinary class routine. These are designed to develop the important traits of character like honesty, self confidence, cooperation and to promote latent talents for leadership and responsibility. Proper use of library facilities, clubs, debates, elocution and quiz contests, dramatics, music and excursions are some of the cultural as well as educational activities. Religious instruction is imparted to Catholic students only and they attend holy mass on special occasions and on the first Tuesday of every month. All students are given a comprehensive course in Value education and faith formation. Physical training, games and athletics are encouraged to promote sportsmanship and a healthy spirit of competition.
